That's not bad at all for a rust belt car. Mine has rust everywhere else accept the roof.

I must be one of the only people in the northeast that has a Colt that only came with very very minor rust. I fixed it and painted the car and its all gravy.

^^^^ yea i hate rust also, it just ruins everything  . The previous colt i had, i bought at some shady small dealership but it was 99% rust free it was great...........till i removed *literally* everything from it and made my own chassis and engine harness. I had switches for everything lol turn signal, headlights, parking lights, wipers. Then it all when to sh*t when i forgot to put my hood pins on and went on a wot run and smashed my windshield/roof  . After that the car didnt feel the same, i still drove it around with a replaced windshield, then i did a half ass front tube chassis on it......then proceeded to remove the motor to swap into a 1g awd shell i bought. I still have the colt, its just sitting collecting dust in a corner of the barn........o well live and learn i guess. Anyway i'll have more pics on later tonight, going to start working on this motor today. I always forget how much of a pain in the a** it is to reassemble a long block :prayer: .

Noticed today i have two broken off bolts on the bottom of the block, so didnt get a chance to throw the pan on there, hopefully those will come out without a problem :ANAL: .

I got it a couple years ago for a motorcycle project i was doing, probably at autozone or meijer. It's one of those high heat paints also.

You should definitely paint the block bud. You have all of that good looking work into it and the block looks like a dirty asshole. Sorry man, it was just an observation. I painted mine before I installed it as well as the trans and I think it turned out great.

*Redsleeper, i got a pic for ya. It was kinda half-assed but it worked out good. i brought some straight pipe to a muffler shop and had him press bend it at the corners. I also welded on a piece of the frame so the cross member would be a bolt on affair.

Image

I'm also not a big fan of the colors :P , but its what i had lying around and didn't feel like spending money on paint. I was contemplating painting the block, but decided i didn't want to mess with cleaning it and all the masking. Little more progress today, plan on finishing it all tomorrow.

I love the color scheme. BUT. For the love of god, strap down that battery a little better. It's not like a box of Kleenex coming from the back deck during a collision ... it weights considerably more. Won't take much, but it's a must. Battery box with vent = even better.

I almost burnt my car to the ground with a good battery relocation set-up. Get a box and a breaker and get that battery done right.
