I thought it would be a good idea to start this build thread to help keep me on task, and to track my progress.

car was previously owned by kjmerkel69
body is mostly straight with a few small dings and almost no rust... interior needs a good vacuum and shampoo
purchased by a friend of mine about five years ago and after some quick progress it was put on the back burner
I just bought it from him 6/26/11

so far
6 bolt 4g63t swap and wiring harness done
motor install itself looks factory. motor is straight and even in engine bay
he used an Elantra drivers side mount and custom rear mount

1g turbo fuel pump
act clutch.

kyle had rebuilt the stock transmission so it will remain (unless it breaks)

The next steps will be
-sort all the vacuum lines and figure out what I can eliminate
-figure out what radiator to use (small engine bay)
-which intercooler

I have an original colt turbo as well but really have much more experience with Hondas and Miatas...so I might need to ask for guidance with specific dsm questions

here it is. more pictures coming soon

here are some more pictures of the colt

I plan on doing some searching but could use some input on a few things

-any ideas of good radiators for this gen?
-I plan to clean up the vacuum lines. In addition to removing the vacuum lines like they do in the diagrams from Taboo speed shop, can I remove the solenoids altogether or do I need to keep them plugged in electrically?

Also does anybody have any interior parts for the Wagon? or maybe a 4wd Wagon for sale... I could use some spares

Oh, the memories! I know I already posted this in the 1g forum thread, but it's good to see my old wagon again.

Any progress since the last update?

H h h h h holy Cow, they both live! 8) Haven't seen this thread change much lately. I know Mankiew sold a Summit recently, maybe that cleared some things up to put this back in production, but I could be wrong.

Man, I haven't been checking back here lately. Great to see the interest in the project. I am getting very motivated to get some stuff done, but I have so many projects on the back burner...i hope to get this running by summer.

Glad I could brighten you day Kyle.

the summit will likely be sold in a few weeks to JP (Boostfreak) I'll be meeting him somewhere in Indiana

I'll keep posting pictures as the project continues

Craig

Getting really excited about hitting this in the near future. No place to work on it and it has been cold as hell.

If anybody sees one of these in a junk yard or even a beat up one for sale please let me know, I need some spare parts

thanks,
Craig
