so its been awhile since I have updated this thread so I figured now was as good a time as any.

1st off around the beginning of may I snapped my T-belt luckily it didnt do any damage but I decided to go ahead and replace the (autozone) crank shaft with a new one. and getting some new pistons and a few other little goodies. motor should be together by aug..

In the men time I have been pondering with cutting up the front end and fabbing up mounts to utilize a 1g dsm front subframe that I have had for a few years.. im gonna try to take pics as I go..and also see if I can make it easy enough to make some kits with complete instructions and sell them.. there will be a small amount of welding needed but ill try to make it as lil as possible.. what this will do is make it so you use the complete dsm front end.. IE: complete brake setup..axles.. all dsm mounts..rack..struts..(might need mandatory camber/caster plates. will figure that out once its all bolted up and see what the alignment shop says). it will also allow for a stronger front end (which is main reason im doing it) and no other modifying for the x-fer case for the awd guys.

here are a few teaser pics its just hanging right now I need to cut out the stock supports then raise it up into position. will updater this as I go with more pics..

still need to do some grinding and cleanup of the metal before I start the fab work..but once I got this cut and the subframe close to in place it looks alot easier than I expected.
probably wont get to do anymore till next weekend but ill keep posting up as I go on this.

got the mid mounts fabbed up and mounted today, now to bolt it all back together since I had to remove it to sit where engine goes to weld inner side.. hoping to have it done by mid may wen I get my new mirage which will take up all my time getting it running so I can DD it since ive been carless for over a month.

took pics just after I tacked them in.. there fully welded now just need end pieces jut and welded on to seal em up.

sat the engine in to make sure the hole lines up with the crank and it does.. YIPPY lol...

What plans do you have for a steering colum?

I was thinking of putting a 1g dsm in it for the tilt.. right now the stock colt one bolted right up to the dsm rack..i was shocked.

small update.. got the pass side rear half of the subframe brackets mocked up and made.. just need to cut and fit the driver side then remove the subframe and weld everything up..then weld it to the floorboard. here are a few pics.

Holes cut..

Brackets made..

Image

mounting plate.. once the 2 angle iron pieces are welded to the plate.. it will get boxed in for more support.. also gonna weld a nut inside like on the other mounts I made.

Post subject:  Re: slowdsm's build

so almost 2 years later I am finally going to start back up on this thing... my roof covering the complete yard should be done by end of july then I wont have to worry about the sun or rain beating down on me.. i can almost work on it year round lol...

not sure why all the links are dead..i cant get to my photobucket page.. so i think its on there end cause I can get to there main page..

so I cant post pics yet of my old dash.. after sitting outside for 2 years its actually not much worse than when I pulled it.. the cracks just got wider lol.

thanks to Chris i got a new dash pad for it..cant wait to get it put together and ready to go back into the car later this year.

Goal is to have the car sitting on all 4s as a roller by end of year.. and possibly have the cage in... then its about getting the motor and trans and drive shaft for it.. then to put it all together...

original goal was to have it running sometime in 2017.( joking with people a few years ago who asked when it would be done). well if all goes well it might happen by then.. even tho I took 2 years off from working on it.

anyways once I can get images uploaded again to post ill post the one of my old dash...and more as I build the car to come.
