MHI turbos can be fed from the OFH with the addition of a restrictor in the oil feed line.

Just a quick update, no pics, but I have everything back together, rad is in, slim fan installed, starter installed, FMIC piping completed, engine is filled with oil and coolant, the gear oil filled, etc. I just need to finish some wiring and find a place to mount the battery and with any luck it'll be ready to "try" and turn over  Just had another exam last weekend and now I've started assembling my talon engine and transmission, so I'll be switching back and fourth. The first Auto Slalom event is May 7th, so I'd like to have the talon ready, the race is on! :o

Another update, I dont have many pics, however after some wire testing and help from a friend of mine, we managed to get the Colt running last night. I have some kinks to work out and clean up a few things, I had a little oil leak, so you'll see a rag in the videos lol. It's now time to clean up the engine bay and wiring harness and eliminate anything I don't need and install the battery.

Another quick update, I drove the car last night to the garage to get the exhaust done. It's the 1st time in just over 5.5 years that I drove the Turbo Colt on the street :o I have to say, I enjoyed it very much, it wasn't an all out cruise, once I get the wideband completed and fuel pump in, then I'll give her a nice root :) Have to say alot of old memories flashed back of my previous 2 turbo Colt's  Made my week that's for sure and put a big smile on my face.

Will keep updated as the project progresses. Should be legal for the road permanently soon enough!

A quick clip of the ride to the garage, nothing fancy, but it was exciting for me.

I like to be nostalgic, I love the body grafics your car has! Its so cheezy 1990's Reminds me of those old Trapper Keeper school folders that were so popular back then. Check out my build, Im going for the early 90's look on my car.

it's been a while but it's not because I gave up on my project or sold the car. I've just been busy with work and also wrenching on the talon.

basically I've been collecting parts as the time goes on in which most likely come the fall or winter I'll start into more modifications. All my mods are being bought with the intentions of racing in this --> http://www.targanewfoundland.com/ The goal I want a solid running 200-250 horsepower car tuned for 87 octane (some of the fill ups for the Targa event and in remote locations and not always 91 available, just to be conservative, octane boosts are allowed) and that will handle like it's on rails and STOP.

I'm not saying I'm 110% in, but atleast the car will have what it would need to make this happen, if anything it will make a great little auto slalom car.

Parts Currently in my garage:
- used 4G61T timing cover as mine was broken
- dual piston GVR4 calipers and brackets
- Galant Master Cylinder
- New brake dust covers to match galant brakes
- rear disc setup from my old GT
- new rear rotors
- new rear brake dust covers
- front sway bar from my old GT
- new super pro bushings for panhard rod, sway bar and CA
- new timing belt and OEM tensioner pulley
- Ground control coil over hats
- Side skirts and rear wing from a GT
- Front strut bar
- new fuel feed line from filter
- FPR
- new Fuel pressure guage
- Walbro 190 fuel pump
- Colt front grille
- DSM FWD lightened flywheel
- 2 BFG drag radials
- 1990 DSM OFH for external oil cooler

Currently On Order
- new rear calipers
- A D/S axle, DAMN I'm going through the same shit as everyone else, I'm 8 weeks now and 2 wrong axesE later on getting a new one. I have 2 half shafts, and at one time did have the axles, but I think they may have went to the dump by mistake so I'm in need on a new one. I'll also be wanting a spare if I run the rally. Is anyone selling a d/s turbo axle??

I'm sure I am missing stuff from the in the garage list, but that's a decent accurate compilation. I'm undecided on shocks yet as I was leaning towards DSM KYB AGX's and modding to allow me to keep the rear suspension geometry, however I seen nates post about the K Sports, and being CSM specific, I may just throw the $$$ and go that route now, I still have to decide, but I have some time.

That's it for now, you can expect more updates and pics once I get going again on this project, but it's great not being on a set time frame as this is my second project car, so I can wrench at my own pace and not forced to rush and make snap decisions on buying parts. :D

Some things I'm looking out for to purchase or will purchase sometime this year
- EPROM 1990 DSM ECU
- DSMlink
- DSM FWD tranny
- shocks or coil over setup
- LSD - I know the inserts are mixed reviews, if I was to find a used full diff I may consider that as well, still not 100% decided
- SS brake lines, still uncertain as to which application will work, CSM using GVR4, I need to do some more research
- rear strut tower brace
- DSM FWD rear sway bar, I've decided I want to try this on the rear, I believe it was jmauld who had it done back in the day
- new front rotors for the GVR4 brake setup
- external oil cooler

Again, not a full list, but off the top of my head.

if anyone has any of the parts listed above for sale, let me know, if the timing is right I'll strike a deal. I'm not loking to buy all at one time but these are items I'm always on the lookout for.

Thanks!

Jim

That is the mod from the archives IIRC. FWD DSM rear axles are almost identical.

I'm not sure if it's in the archives, I do have some good detailed pics of one installed on a CSM. I'm hoping I should be able to pick one up pretty cheap to install, with any luck it should help get the handling in check for Targa :D

You lucky bugger! Targa is cost prohibitive for the common guy wanting to swing in from out of province. Isn't it like $1500 CDN to enter?

It's most certainly not a cheap event, but it's great experience.
The entry fee alone is $6662 CDN tax included, it's 5870 if you pay the balance before feb 1 of that year. :o then you will need a few G's easy the week of, plus rally liscence, safety equipment, etc. oh and a prepped car

So, what are the chances you'll be competing in targa this year? It sure would be good seeing that colt tearing through NL! You should keep the pinstripes..
