Well this build is going to be interesting and push my fabrication skills to the test. I have been driving this thing over 3 years now and soon enough I will be doing the swap but for now she is my daily driver. My plans to make it street legal as possible and my goal is to hit 10's with this beast. Not only is it getting a 4g63t swap, it with be converting it to AWD using and using a automatic transmission, t-case, and rear end of a 91 eagle talon auto. I did measurements and research on this site. Well this car is very similar to a CSM and a DSM meaning, a lot the parts on a DSM fits this car very nicely which I'm so excited things could work for this ride, lol. So for now, I'll show you what I have done to her so far.

Here is pics of the hyundai in stock form:

Well I cracked up my front bumper and I couldn't find a replacement so I used a 91 eagle talon front bumper and I have to say that the car has a face lift. The car looks so much better than the stock on,lol.

Here is what it looks like in current state:

-1g GST ebiach lowering spring

- 17 inch wheels off a galant vr4

- custom gauge pods from a 1g

- got rid of the spoiler and flat black the trunk and hood

- cut out the hyundai sign in the middle of the grill

- installed a safc 1 on the stock ECU from the 1.8 Dohc

- B&M FPR

NOOOO Not a Mexican carbon fiber hood and deck lid! You painted the wrong pieces! LOL

Seriously though! Give the front bumper a little wet sand and some rattle can paint and make it look better.

Definitely a cool car. I like it.

I've always liked those Elantras for some unknown reason. My mom had a 94 Excel back in the day with a 4G15 and an auto. It was slow as balls but I did manage to get it up to 130 coming down the Sunshine Skyway bridge in Tampa, FL. A week later the trans went out. Anyway, I can't wait to see this thing flying down the 1320.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the feed back and I can't wait to start this project. Right now I can't do much to the body seeing that I drive the car everyday and it's snowing like no tomorrow, lol. Even that, the last thing I'm worry about is paint, I want to get everything welded together and running then I'll paint the beast the same color. What's funny is the red on the hyundai is the same red for a 1g,lol.

Yeah I wasn't trying to make the hood and the trunk lid like a mexican carbon fiber, I like the flat black look of both pieces, lol. When I repaint it, I'm still going to keep it that way but both pieces will be much better painted. Also the rear doors will get the door handles shaved because they'll be no point any more to have them exposed seeing that I won't have a back seat no longer and the only thing back there will be the roll cage, lol.

how easily was that turbo dsm bumper to fit. Ived been wanting to put a base dsm bumper on mine. My 93 is red also and looks lighter. And what dsm parts have you found to fit. I have a pile of parts for my 90 talon

Ok I have convinced myself that I'm going to the SO with this hyundai and what I'm going to do is slap a b16g, wide band, FMIC and 2.5 custom exhaust. The reasoning of doing this is because I will have 3 of my other buddies bringing there hyundai's as well. So I can't show up there without any flavor it just wouldn't be true to my nature [-X And besides I wanna see what this engine can do boosted

He is the run down what I need to do and parts that I already have:

-390-450cc injectors

-resistor box for injectors

-4g63 turbo manifold

-14b or b16g turbo

- Dp with welded bung, hehe wide band baby, lol.

- custom exhaust made by your truely, lol.

- Fmic (conquest intercooler)

- boost controller

- Safc (which is installed already),hehe.

So what you guys think?

Sounds like it should move, But sounds more like you want a reasont to blow the 1.8L so you will have no excuse but to do your 4G63 swap. :partyman:

At least that would be my reason. haha.

Is your fuel pump upgraded yet?

Awesome man. My Scummit will be at the Shoot Out for sure. Possibly even my Galant. I hope there are more CSMs and Hyundais this year than years past. I remember when the Colts and Expos used to line up next to each other. LOL

***Update 4/2/11***

This coming sunday she will be boosted but using the stock exhaust and only a side mount. I'm tired of not having a boosted car and the past 2 sundays I helped swap a 4g63t in a 93 hatch back excel. I help him to get it running and man that was a awesome build. Well, he mention I should turbo the elantra and that he would give me a hand to get it done quicker seeing it's still my DD,lol. So I said yeah lets do it and this sunday she should be getting the 14b I had laying around in storage and a wide band so I'm not playing guessing games air/fuel mixtures, lol.

On another note:

Can't wait, I'm so excited to get that feeling like my old hyundai when people see a turbo hyundai and be like WTF? Man that thing is quick, type of comments I would be getting again  My boy with the excel is so gassed right now, the car is on it's wheels and he made a 3rd gear pull and he's hooked on these cars. Also for a first time starter he built his own engine with forged pistons and rods. I'm very happy the way the car came out, that engine is going to be sick. He pretty much :prayer: because I helped him get the car done, which I was just happy that another guy thought outside the box and build another honda killer,lol.. Man I Love Hyundai's
