Well I'm back from deployment and its time to start rebuilding my engine. I overheated it really bad weeks before I left and had no time or patience to deal with it any further. what I found...
1. Head was beautifully clean inside thanks to awesome maintenance.
2. Head was warped just over .005" which is huge especially using a MLs gasket.
3. Block is straight as an arrow but has surface rust and cylinders need a bore to be cleaned.
4. #1 piston has a big dent above the compression ring from god knows what, and the #1 piston between compression rings was cracked.
5. bearing surfaces look great and show no sign of oil starvation, warping etc.
6. crank is smooth as a baby's ass

The Good.
1. block is getting bored, magna fluxed and hot tanked hopefully next week
2. crank is getting balanced and polished for piece of mind
3. the New $70 head is straight just dirty. getting it decked just to remove light scratching
4. going to modify the oil passages on the block and head to improve oil flow
5. Work has already begun... LETS BUILD THIS B**CH

The carnage

Any chance you could take a straight-on shot of the back so I could see how the spoiler fits the body width-wise?

The spoiler I got from Skap is different from the higher-rise lancer spoiler in Tony's picture. It also doesn't fit quite perfectly. I'm thinking it's for the liftback lancer and not the 4 door version.

Either way, if you have a 91-92 trunk it's going to require some cutting and modification. the 89-90 trunks have the indent for the spoiler bolt holes which is still a little bit off from where the holes need to be drilled. The 91+ trunks must be from a different mold since they were built in the US vs. Japan.

Jason, thanks for the heads up. The spoiler on this car is from a gvr4. I asked bowdown about it a while back. I'm actually looking into a different one from another make that's mor aggressive but can't decide if I like the rear end better naked.

some new updates, the fuel tank and pump hanger are rusted BAD! Ordered a new OEM tank that just came, sanded down the rust on the hanger and am now modifying it for AN -6 feed and return lines. 20' of Gates -6 fuel hose came in also along with the Fuel lab FPR and filter. 3" 90* bend for the exhaust is here with a 2 bolt flange to mount the side exit exhaust. long working hours are haulting progress so im hoping for fire in 3 weeks now. Also got bored and mirror polished the stock intake manifold and sanded out the rough sides in the intake runners and ported the turbo hotside slightly. While I had her apart I cleaned the throttle body (it was black lol) and replaced the seals so no more idle surge (hopefully :o )

Just picked up some FIC Bluemax 1650cc for $300... gonna use the 550's for break in then thrown in the 1650's for a low boost (17psi) 91oct tune and a high boost 25psi E85 tune. :supz:

What a PITA! 3 owners ago the guy tried to build a destroker 2.1L out of my G4CS. LONG story short, engines gotta get pulled apart because there's an 88mm crank and no 156mm rods so there is a 6mm gap from the pistons at TDC to the deck of the block. The machine shop Has my old 2.0 and is inspecting for whether I can hone or have to bore. As soon as I know Wiseco 9.0:1 non HD pistons will be ordered as well as the $250 worth of oil squirters and misc crap to get this one ready. Slight set back but my goals are set. Wally 255 and new modded -6AN pump hanger went In today, 3 hours to get it to seat in the tank but nice fit, fuel lines ran tomorrow and wiring cleaned up. Full attack mode on this beast! I need power!!
