Picked this car up last month. The motor was in bas shape. And so was the tranny. I have just a few more parts before I can drop the motor in. And the tranny I hope will go back together some time this week or next. I leave for Bonneville on the 12th, I am hoping to have it all at least assembled by then. But I have spent a bunch more than anticipated and am basically waiting on another check before I go.

65mm turbo
.040" over topline pistons
.010/.010" turned crank
Reconditioned stock rods
Clevite bearings
Ebay 38mm wastegate
Modified and rewelded ebay T3 manifold
And a few small tricks here and there. Just enough to hopefully make it reliable. Looking for 350-400whp when it is said and done. On stock cams, head and intake.
And yes, that is all that there is to the exhaust. Less than a foot of 2.5" pipe.

What kind of oil cooling are you going to go with? I assume this would be even more important considering you have no coolant to cool the turbo. Other than that, looks like a clean, simple rebuild that hopefully gives you many miles of smiles.

No oil cooling. I actually chose to remove any of the oil cooler filter housings. I have put together a few cars like this without issue. This car will not be driven much. I have a company vehicle that I drive 99% of the time. I have to for my work. It is not a road race car or anything. Just an occasional jaunt here and there. I hope she brings more smiles than anything. With miles being a close second.

We just went 209mph. So I am doing great. And we plasigauged that motor the same way. So if other serious bonneville racers do the same as we do, then the whole community must be wrong.

We are going racing.
Which car was setup for 209 MPH? That is some pretty intense speed, can only imagine what it would feel like in the cabin.
People ever throw around what kind of G force people experience at those speeds? Even relevant? hehe

It is a 1991 Eagle Talon. We put 23mph on a twin turbo Ferrari Enzo. That and the wuss spun on his second run and never made another pass the rest of the week.

More fun when the car isn't tied to the whole mortgage. :P Or maybe it was ....

Racing isn't cheap, so this is why it is so fun to see what other people do to get their kicks.

Thanks Tim. Or is it Tym? I am just trying to shed a little light here and inspire others to simple and clean builds. And to shoot for their dreams. I know I do. I am taking a beat up old car and turning it into a gem. Or at the very least a polished turd.

Can you clean up all the remaining clutter(even mine) from my new build thread. Let's take the nasty bs out of there. Including my attacks at my beloved colorado boys.
Sure!
