There is a black box on the timing side motor mount. 2 bolts. Anybody know what it's for?
The black box is for vibration dampenening. That's why we're able to dyno our cars with champagne glasses stacked on our hoods.

Well the reason I ask it because I think I may have misplaced it. So it won't matter if I don't put it back on? That would be relieving :)

Well if I can help it, the motor will go back home tomorrow afternoon. With that said, Today I got a lot done. Thanks to John from REVSHIFT for everything he has helped me out with in the past few weeks.

Anyways on to the good stuff. My fuel pump in the stock mounting location was way too low to the bottom of the fuel tank for my liking. I contacted John about making a spacer to go between the sending unit, and the tank to raise up the pump a little bit, we used 3/8" and it worked out great, that should give me more than enough clearance from the bottom of the tank to the sock.

I didn't take a picture of the finished piece yet but here's basically what it looks like.

Also, I cut the timing side motor mount for a cleaner look, so I modified the front power steering pump mounting bracket as well. Here's a quick before and after, you get the idea.

Fun stuff there.

I didn't think to take pictures of this, but today I went to take off the banjo bolt from my fuel filter, well the banjo was rusted on the fitting so good that it just kept spinning the filter. Eventually the top of the filter busted off. I went to Murrays and picked up a stock replacement filter for now, for roughly $18, I installed that a long with my STM Pushloc filter to rail kit. I'll get pictures of that once the motor is in.

Here's the thing I'm most excited about. REVSHIFT URETHANE 95a MOTOR MOUNTS

I also installed the 41.3" belt, that worked out pretty well. I need to take it back off to install my power steering belt though
It tensioned up real nice, and even has room to go further if I need to.

Here's a picture of the billet pushloc fuel rail adaptor from the STM kit

Oh I forgot, I also installed the thermostat housing, I was going to wait and paint it up to keep it looking fresh, but as with the rest of this build, performance > cosmetic.
Image

And finally for today, I installed all new exhaust manifold studs, and copper nuts(not shown) Except for one of the top row stripped studs wont come off. I'll have to worry about that after the car is running

That's all for now.

The motor is in, most of the way atleast. Front and Rear rollstop are good, need to bolt up the trans and timing side motor mounts and get this thing ready to go.

I'll do a little more legit update in a few, I'm drowsy.

I hope all of you procrastinators filed your taxes today!

I'm not going to bother with a long update, The engine is in with the front and rear rollstop in place. Timing side and transmission side will be bolted in place tomorrow/soon.

Also, as of today, I transferred the title to my name, got a custom vanity plate on order, and insured this POS.

Impressed with the work thus far.. I'm a stickler for the details myself (I would have cleaned up the block etc. but thats me.) Anyways the build looks good. I do like the urethane mounts too. Cool idea. Keep it up man! :supz:

I plan on pulling the engine after this season again, if the 1.6 survives I'll add ARP rodbolts to the mixture, I'll clean everything up even more then. But for now it's all function.

Everything is looking good. Being patient is the hardest part! Just a quick comment on your fuel filter problem. If you use an open end wrench on the fuel filter neck, that will keep the filter from spinning while you crack the banjo bolt.

Thanks for the tip, I did try some pliers I had laying around and it was pretty much done for either way. I'm sure the filter was original 123,000 miles on it so it forsure needed to be replaced, especially since I'm going with e85. I will only be using this OE type filter for a few months(probably around my first oil change) then I will be going with a fuel lab stainless filter.

the dsm/evo shootout in july or august(august I think) The one Buschur hosts in norwalk? I'd love for both of our cars to be there lol. I should be on a much nicer turbo by then.
