heres an update i hope all this work is worth it
i removed the old talon shocks from the subframe assembly so i could begin the rear mockup.
and quickly got started cutting the spare tire well out.. no turning back now!!!
then i cut off the remnants of the old rearend bracketry and grinded the undercoating off the framerails so i have a spot to weld the crossbeams for the sweet sweet AWD
jacked up the rear into place, took some measurements, and had to cut out more of the old stock rear stuff to make clearance. and i also had to cut off 2 of the mounting tabs for the old gastank.
got my 2x2 square tubing ready for some cuttin. i really need to take some time a build a damn workbench..
got the tubing cut to size and placing it up there to get more measurements.
i made the cuts needed and drilled some holes and ended up with this
made another bar for the front subframe mounts
and heres the rear subframe assembly ready to go into its NEW home.
placed it back up there to see if it fits... it does.
as you can imagine at this point in time the AWD rear has been in and out of the car several dozen times... maneuvering this beastly heap of metal around the garage by myself is a pain in the dick.
i can smell the awd already..
at this point the subframe is bolted to my custom frame rails but its in no way attached to the car, or aligned properly.
more to come !! im running out of free things to do and soon i'll have to break out the wallet and start ordering parts..
whatcha think?
