Stripped a stud hole, so I now have one M10x1.25 one, lol. Ah well, no biggie.

Exh manifold is on, turbo will go on later today, EVO 8 ecu to DSM ecu harness adapter is done and curing (silicone), and no more parts have broken/snapped/twisted/stripped, lol.

Got a bit of christmas money from my pops, so I'm going to splurge on the car. It's a toss-up between a used big 16G on Kijiji (if it's still available) or a stock clutch kit to go with my 13G'd 1.6. I'm still kinda leaning towards the clutch, because it's cheaper, and it would mean I could put the engine in my car.

...but bigger turbos are always good...;).

upgrade the clutch to a OEM turbo DSM one. Just need to find a FWD turbo flywheel. that will hold much better then the OEM 1.6L clutch, and allow for more boost and upgrades in the future as well.

I had thought about that, but in the end decided to go with a stage 1.5-ish 210mm kit from Bully Clutch. They're local to me, and have a great relationship with the shop I work at part time. We've run their prototypes for years, and they've made us some oddball one-offs too. I don't want to go nuts with the clutch just yet, since this car isn't going to start out with big power. I'll be happy with 150whp for this coming season, and a clean emissions test, lol.

I've got a good stock 61T flywheel (and a lightened one, thanks to Flying Eagle ;) ), so this is the cheapest option available to me.

Figured out how to flash the ecu with a $15 ebay Vag-Com cable...sigh. I just wasted $100 on that stupid Evoscan 1.3R :(.

Got my clutch :).
A nice new disk, PP, TO bearing, and alignment tool, all from Bully Clutch here in Ottawa. It's a custom disk, sort of a stage 1.5-ish thing. One side organic and the other side kevlar. I ran one like that in an 89 Golf turbo I had a while back, and never had a problem, so it's definitely going to be fine on my 61T.

I'm going to try my damnedest to get the engine/tranny together this weekend, so I can drop it in next week before the cooooooooooooold returns to my area. It's going to be 9-11*C tomorrow, and rainy! :D

Got what I needed to finish the timing belt job, and a whole lot more. HP Auto was having a cleanup day and I just happened to be there with a box to fill, lol. 2G manifold, a couple O2 housings, colt locks, colt rear bulb trays, some 1G and 2G camshafts (stock), BNIB rear wheel bearings, etc etc etc.

It's been a good day :).

Timing belt is done. Got the cams lined up perfectly on my second try. That may not sound like a great feat, but I'm used to working on engines with only one cam gear, lol.

I'm going to try to finish up the rear main tonight, and possibly get the oil pan on. Then this weekend MIGHT see me dropping the engine back in :).

...and all I did was fix a torn CV boot.

Sigh.

Sure, as long as you provide the CV boot repair kit ;). There was one in the tubs of parts that came with the car, so it was pretty easy to do...just messy as heck. It was an inner that tore, so I had to keep the inner ring of the old CV boot to get the new one to fit.

I really want to get the rear main done, but to get the engine off the stand I need to dig out the hoist...and that's more than a lazy guy wants to do on the upcoming week that's supposed to be bitterly cold. Especially since I'm heading south for a week next sat :D.

I'll do your CV boot if you come and finish my engine, lol.

FINALLY did the main seal. I messed up my back on vacation last week (I miss you, Florida :(), but I was ambitious today and wanted to work on the car. Dressed up warm and went out to tackle the one PITA job I hate most, since the engine has to come off the stand.

This was a bad idea, as my back is now REALLY sore and stiff. I'm happy I did it though, since now I can do the oil pan, and then install the clutch and tranny.

RTV grey, Delco stuff or Hondabond or the Toyota name for it. All come from the same company, and will not leak. Mitsu stuff is herra expensive in that department if you use what they are offering now. Don't use gasket material. Also when the bolts go back in for the drain tube off the turbo, you will need new mini crush washers so it doesn't leak. Just helping out on this one because it doesn't take much to over look little buggers like that when so many big things are getting done. Ask me how I know it will leak without them.
