Damn, I'm beginning to think that we really are cousins  . Great job man!

I know its too late now but aluminum foil is great for masking brake and fuel lines for paint. Hopefully we will both be done with our cars and we can drive them to the shootout next year.

Thanks Chris!!!

We may not be cousins but we sure do like our stuff nice :D I will be done with my car before winter so I sure as heck better be driving it to the shootout next year.

If you were wondering why from the frame rail down wasn't painted it is because I am spraying rubberized undercoating on that area.

Looks great. I may do something like that as well because the paint is very thin in that area. Did you guys paint the bay with a gun or spray bombs? The white part.

It was Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel spray bomb. The rubberized undercoating is a paintable kind so it drys.

With a bachelor party last weekend, the shootout this weekend and a wedding the following weekend I cannot foresee much progress in August :(

This isn't a big update but it is an update :D

While money is hard to find right now I have been trying to do the stuff that doesn't cost anything. One big hurdle to me was getting the adapter harness complete. CSM to DSM:

I also picked up the sedan rear hubs from 89mirageman but haven't yet installed them do to not having the brakes yet. Now that I have the harness done I can install the interior.

UPDATE 5/3/2011

Here is a writeup of what I did to convert my 1991 Dodge Colt to rear disc utilizing 1992 sedan hubs.

Pictured below is the C52A rear axle stub. Note the 1/2" section that is a larger diameter than the rest of the stub which when using the C53A rear hubs acts as the bearing surface.

Image
Image

Pictured below is the inside or bearing side of the sedan hub. Note the sealed bearing does not have a taper like the axle stub.

Image
Image

Pictured below is the sedan hub bolted up tight to the rear axle. Note the hub bottoms out on the face of the 1/2" bearing surface.

Image

The C53A rear disc bracket has an offset so that the caliper bolts up to the bracket on the same plane as the bracket bolts up to the rear axle.

Pictured below shows the 1/2" thick caliper bracket I made for the sedan hub.

Now with the bracket figured out calipers were required. I opted to use FWD DSM rear calipers. I was fortunate to find a car at the junkyard that had remanufactured calipers on it with nearly brand new pads.

Pictured below are the refinished caliper brackets and the brake line bracket.

To accomodate the brake line bracket I welded nuts to a plate and then welded that plate to the beam as pictured below.

I didn't take pictures of the e-brake cable adapter I made. 89mirageman makes a great adapter for this purpose.

Pictured below is the final product.

Looks good man! I was at the same yard that I got your hubs from the other day and luckily that 92 sedan was still there. I got a good look at the stub axles and they don't have that thick lip for the seal like the 89-91 cars. They are like the 4g csm's. This allows the hub to slide all the way on so it uses the same caliper bracket as all other 3g's with rear discs.
