Not going to lie never had the rear wheels off the colt yet to look at the suspension. I assume it was similar to a fwd talon.

Impossible is a very strong word and I assume if you move the top of the rear strut in towards the center of the car that you can gain some?
It is similar to a FWD 1g, which is also solid-axle, which you also can't get any negative camber out of. Not sure why you're so stuck on having huge wheels on this car?

Cause I know I blow the tires off my fwd talon on 205 7 wides, but I do a lot better with the 3000gt sl rims which are 8.5 with 225. I would like to see this littler car hook. It is all in the fun of things and doing something different. thomcasey apparently runs 8wides. But you are right I do get stuck on an idea and run with it. It happen years ago on dsms.

You can run a 225 on a 7 or even 6.5 wide wheel though, just saying :butthead:

Yea thanks I was feeling that response coming on. I was told that yesterday by the tirerack chat line also. It popped up when looking at tires and so I figured lets chat with the person. My response to his comment about 225/45 will fit a 7wid was more tire role while turning. I know this car will be takin to autocross at some point. I might just be fickle. But I appreciate the acknowledgment that I am stubborn. I am not ordering the rims until I get my fenders flared which I might have him do no my junk 89 colt to get an idea of what it looks like before doing the boosted one, just incase it looks dumb or he is bad at it. :axe: :o

I'd rather put a 225 section tire on a 7" aftermarket rim than run any combination of stock Mitsu wheels. They're all terrible. Just for the record though, you're not going to have traction no matter what tire you run on one of these cars if you add any respectable amount of power to it. It's gonna blow the tires off no matter what, unless you're running slicks or DR's all the time, which I don't think you want to do. I'd go for a setup that is practical and fits/looks proper over anything else.

This was my old Mirage on 15x7" +40 wheels and 205/50 tires. Couldn't ask for better fitment, and I never had rubbing issues. The car was mostly stock, so traction wasn't a big issue for me.

With 225/50's the car looked like a pregnant roller skate...

I think I'm only running like -1 negative camber in the rear on my car. Tire size is 215/50? I'll have to double check.

Well, I got most of my old house moved to the new house this weekend so no progress really.
I was able to get down to the shop and work for a bit this past weekend. I may even have horrible news for myself
I found a crank woodruff key on the top of the firewall. It was damaged and I don't know if it was replaced.
The crank bolt is one with the 1/2in drive input. It has been impacted so much that it has cracked one of the corners. Also, a 22mm impact socket would not fit. I had to file the bolt a bit and lightly hammer a 22mm impact on. Not my cheap electric impact wouldn't work also.
I think what I am going to have to do it take the timing belt off. Take number 1 spark plug out and coil a rope inside the cylinder. Then get the snapon air impact on the bolt and see if I can get the bolt out. Has anyone used the the coiled rope to drop valves before? I didn't know if anyone has used the coiled rope to get the crank bolt out also. I assume that the cylinder head can take the pressures as it is part of the combustion chamber. Stupid stuff like this is what makes me hate 4g63. People doing dumb things to get by and not just doing them right. First off that bolt is $14.94+7 shipping at extremepsi. Makes me so tick off to have to fix other people problems. I would have never guess this would have been a problem when I bought the car cause it ran but needed a new timing belt.

I know I can use the crank sprocket tool, but if the woodruff key is not there and missing then the crank sprocket tool will not work due to the sprocket rotating.
Also I notice that the cam gear alignment dowel was sheered. The (female) could even hold the cam gear and impact the bolt of due to it being so over tighten to put it in prospective. So this makes me even more nervious. I replaced the cams and cam gear.
I am ready to just almost pull the engine and trans out and replace the trans with a open trans so I can drive it on the street when I get it finished. If Saturday the motor pisses me off to much I am going to Chicago to get myself a new motor with cams and make this toy have even more traction issues. Then in the mean time rebuild this current motor along with one of my others all at the same time.
Sorry about my rant, but if you don't have the money to do something right then wait until you do have the money.

Tool like this one should work, you can easily make one... http://compare.ebay.com/like/1309245509 ... s&var=sbar
Is that the one you were talking about?

It is not uncommon for that crank bolt to be cracked due to people using a 1/2" driver instead of the proper size socket.

Yes that is the crank sprocket tool I was refering to. If there woodruff key(half moon shape peice that sits in the crank) is missing that tool will not work nor do anything for me. I am ordering one this week cause I normally can get the crank bolts off with a 22mm impact. I am ordering just in case kind of thing. I am just very nervous about the entire thing. :o I might wait to get my Ingersoll-rand w7150-k2  Friday in the mail this week with its 700ftlb plus of torque. :D Seems way overkill but 350-450 didn't do anything but make my ears ring.

Your Ingersol is the better version of the MAC AW5500 and MATCO such and such, and will do the trick nicely. Just a few hammer hits and it will zing the bolt right out. Most times that things shear, is from slow stress like a breaker bar. You can heat the bolt (if you are replacing it), allow it to cool and then use the the impact. I don't heat unless I suspect things are really not going to work the first time out with the gun. Spidey sense in certain situations. You should be fine.

You could always put a long breaker bar on it, brace it or place it on the LCA and then bump the starter :o I take no responsibility for damaged property though.

Nocturnal, love your sponse lol
Flying Eagle, thanks for the confidence booster. I work out of state away from the car so I get to sit at work all day and think about it.
What you guys think? Should I even purchase the crank tool? I rather not if the IR impact will take is right off.
On another note I have no clue why people with nice air tools think it is ok to just impact everything on with a 500ftlb impact and call it good.
I have used my Harbor Frieght 350ftlb impact for years and never had but 2 bolts I could not get out. Understand, I was working on things I assembled. Just recently I have had to deal with this. A shop put my buddies lug nuts on with an impact and I had to jump on a 2.5ft breaker bar to get them off. I put another shop on my list I will never take my car to for tires.
