Starting a build thread for my latest project. I just bought this car a little over a week ago Mid nov 2013. This is my second original '89 plymouth colt turbo.
This car is in excellent overall condition with absolutely minimal rust (mostly surface underneath) No big dents just a few parking lot dings. The underside is showing a little rust on suspension pieces and some starting on a couple seams...I plan to get on this big time as it is still minimal and is fully recoverable.
I always wanted a white turbo, but I have say I have fallen in love with this silver car. The wheels with the polished lips, the stance and the exhaust look mean as hell to me. I was following the car when we were driving home and it just looks "right". The suspension is taut (not bouncy)and over bumps the car has a purposeful look to it, like a lot of well prepared autocross cars.
Anyway
I will be doing a conservative build on this car keeping some of the mods that were already done and stepping up on a few items. I would be very happy to have a mid to high 13 sec car when done.
current mods
Engine/performance:
-450 injectors
-13G turbo
-HKS high flow air filter
-EGR bypass
-Underhood bar and plate intercooler with sucker fan (little bigger and thicker than 1g smic)
-looks like a 2.5" turbo back with Flowmaster (maybe real)type muffler. I have to check the downpipe
-EGR blockoff
Suspension/chassis
-GAB rear adjustable struts
-KYB GR-2 fronts
-GAB strut tower bars front and back.
-Battery relocate
-15x7 inch OZ/MSW Pluton
-unknown aftermarket coils.
-whiteline rear sway (I have to check front )
Appearance/interior
-Autometer vac/boost, oil pressure and water temp gauges
-amp for old aftermarket stereo
-fake hood scoop
Almost all work was really nicely done and tasteful (not to insult the previous owner, who was extremely nice, but the more I look at the hood scoop the more I think that will be the first thing to go) I am happy that it has recently had the timing belt and alternator replaced.
It needs at least one axle as it is clicking pretty bad and the brakes are a little soft. I was told the parking brake is frozen and I might need to see if the rear calipers have perished.
planned upgrades
14b
2g manifold
upgraded o2 housing (still deciding which way to go)
190lph walbro
Dsm link
2g mas with hard pipe
might stick with the 450 injectors for now otherwise I have a set of FIC 650s
These are the previous owners pictures. I plan to take a lot more as I go.
Hope you like it as much as me...
