can I use a 91 AWD pressure plate & disc with a six bolt FWD DSMT flywheel. I have a ACT 2600 plat & disc I was planning on using. the reason I ask is because I just read I that the 95+ DSM or fwd 3kgt ones should be used :???:

Last weekend I insatlled a ACT 2100 on my Mirage. I used a 90 Laser FWD Turbo Flywheel, and haven't had any problems with it besides it engaging a little close to the floor. You need to use a flywheel from a FWD Turbo..and any clutch that'll fit a DSM. Don't you think the 2600 might be a little overkill for the car?

I bought one.

maybe, the thought did cross my mind but I didnt pay anything for it. the previous owner of the 91 talon recently installed it, ran the car for a few weeks & then his tranny died. I bought the talon cheap to put the 4G63 in the Colt & and with the TRE rebuild, I think the tranny should be able to take the extra abuse. besides, my clutch foot is useto the extra pressure, I drive a Kenworth.

You might want to use a non ACT disk. The ACT street disks are not very well made. I was only able to put about 10 passes and about 2500 miles on the ACT street disk before it fell apart in many pieces.

I now have the ACT 6 puck and think it is way too harsh for any kind of street driving. I would suggest using the 2600lb pressure plate with a stock 97 AWD DSM disk. I know many people using that setup and it works VERY well.

I think they are different part numbers, not exactly sure. I know that is what Nate Pharr has always used on his Galants and M/Cs. I will find out.

The latest replacement 2G clutch disk is a POS from what I have been told. The 3KGT disk is what some fast guys are using with the ACT PP

hmm, is it a drop in deal? will any year DOHC-FWD-3kgt disc do? does the disc mate to the flywheel, & to the KM210 tranny shaft teeth perfectly? thanks guys.

Is there any way to positively identify the FWD DSM flywheel. I have been looking locally and have run into unmarked flywheels at the junk yards. Greg
