Yes it will run the engine. To get everything working (including the tach), you'll need to do some playing around w/ wires. |

Just make sure that your ECU and your wiring harness match, otherwise you will run into problems. Example 1995 DSM Turbo ECU will not work with a 1st gen DSM wiring harness. So make sure you are using 1st gen DSM wiring harness and ECU. ***IF you choose to use 2nd Gen ECU and wiring harness then you will need to make sure your motor has the correct cam pickup sensor. |

Is this because it is an awd ecu???? i have the 4g63 swap and i used the stock 1989 gt wiring harness and the 1g 91 fwd computer and it matched up fine with everything. or is it because his 89 isn't a GT? |

For just this reasson we are working on doing a swap and documneting the diffrences and trying to help explain a few things if you have time check out our website http://www.ongreenperformance.com Scroll down to the bottom and click on the project. Basically a 89 turbo colt harness is very simlar to a 90 DSM, just a few changes if you ahve a 91+ dsm. I promise many pictures soon, just need to take time to download the camera, and work on that section. |

there's not too many differences - a few wires swapped her and there. If using the AWD ECU, you need to check what is connected to the AWD control unit wire on the ECU. Yes, if you can get one, get one. If you don't want it, I'll buy it off you sometime |

The AWD ECUs may run richer on open-loop and/or reach open-loop earlier. You can even make an AWD ECU a FWD just by soldering in a resistor. In the end, it doesn't really matter if it's FWD or AWD. Just one thing: if you really want to run a 2G ECU, look into dsmlink... |
