I did a 4g63 swap on a non turbo colt. it seem like the engine fuel cut at 5 or 6k rpm. the engine sounds like detonating or popping. please give me some idea on what's wrong with the car. |

Which turbo are you running? Intercooled? If so, which kind and where it is mounted New fuel filter? Which fuel pump do you have? What octane gas are you using? How old is the gas? Have you recently switched octane grades? Do you have a pocketlogger? Knock sensor? Any other diagnostic tools? -paul |

High RPM misses are likely three things and I would check them in this order: Problem: Incorrectly gapped plugs/Incorrect plugs or wires Solution: NGK BPR-7ES gapped @ ~.028, Magnecore 8.5mm wires Problem: Not enough fuel/Lean condition Solution: You should already have the proper instrumentation -- O2's should be over .88v and EGT's under 870C in upper revs. Problem: Fuel-cut due to ECU seeing too much airflow Solution 1: Hack the MAS (least favorable) Solution 2: Add an AFC to fool the ECU's airflow readings and raise the fuel-cut ceiling. Solution 3: Adapt a 2G MAS to raise the fuel-cut ceiling Solution 3: Add a GM MAF translator, TRE MASC, or other fuel control (GReddy E-manage, AEM ECU) to eliminate fuel cut completely (most favorable).
