There is a 4g63T engine at a junk yard ~ 5 minutes from my Apt. I talked to the owner and he said he would let it go for $250. Here's the problem, no mani/turbo, unknown miles, unknown condition. Is it worth the $250, it probably needs a rebuild, if I got it I would rebuild it just cause of the unknown condition of the motor. Buy it or skip it?

like my runon sentence?

If you got the time and tools to pull it, go for it. 50% chance its good. Just use your jugement while pulling it out. ie. cracks, holes, broken pieces and rat's nests.

thats not a bad price, if nothing else you could sell the head for like $150 if you wanted some of your money back if the block is garbage. I bought a junkyard motor before and the crank was worn pretty bad so i'm not using the bottom end, but i got the head, tranny, wiring harness, turbo, etc out of the deal. i'd say check out the motor for internal damage, if it's good then it's not a bad deal for $250

yep, that is for a perfect crank, no cylinder wear and a good head that needs surfacing, it is a engine that has either been bad ie. less that 130psi compression, excessive blow by, or slightly bent valves. we wouldent sell an engine with a valve stuck in the head.
you would get the complete head, block, timing components, oil pan and front engine mount.
