Are the 4g61t motors interfierence? I stripped teeth off of my t belt at the crank part and pulled right over the other night. It broke when i was babying it at 50 mph in 5th gear. I know when you break a tbelt on a 4g63 your f*cked due to the fact that the pistons will hit the valves. Is this true on the 4g61, a motor with a lesser stroke?

Yep, it's an intereference engine. I purchased my mirage with a busted head from the timing belt breaking.

Since the 4G61 has a shorter stroke the block itself is also about 6mm shorter to bring the head closer to the piston or else you would have a gaping cavity in there. IOW: you bent valves...

If you break the T-belt while your just idling then you have a slight chance of getting lucky. A compression test will tell you whether anything isn't sealing (from the bent valves) without removing the head.

All the valves are straight, and there was no damage. Let me rephrase what happend. The belt didnt break, it stripped the teeth off of a section of the belt at the crank at 2800 rpm, then i pushed the clutch in and pulled over. All the new crap goes on tomorrow and she'll be terrorizing 5.0's in no time flat
