The one i just bought and am selling has 150compression across all four cylinders.
It has a funny idle at times, kinda bumpy, as if its running on two or three cylinders.
Timing is close enough to spec, 12*BTDC.
Ive swapped MAF with my good running colt, and checked the O2 readings and function, and they are normal, its flipping properly.
At times, when its running fine, the car runs smooth, with no funny idle, no ticking, just plain ass smooth, all you hear is the common Mitsu timing end whine.
It runs the same from a cold start to when its at normal running temp.
It alternates from good idle to rough, every couple of minutes.

Although, when hot, and running rough, if i shut off the motor, and try to restart it, it doesnt pick up right away, I have to floor the accelerator to WOT, and it takes about 10-15secs for it to wind past 1000rpm, as soon as it hits 1000rpm, it runs normal!

but when hot, and running smooth, I shut off the motor to restart it, it starts no problem.

could it be one of the following? coil? crank angle sensor? ecu? TB? Bad Knock sensor?

Any suggestions? I have a spare ecu from a 90 1g talon turbo, im gonna hook that up and see what it does.

Sorry for the length, but if you read this far, thanks for reading this far!

I'm going thru the process of elimination.

i think you should check the spark plug leads too. this sounds like a problem i had a while ago and it was a faulty spark plug lead.

maybe coolant temp sensor (mine is idling funny now because the coolant temp sensor is dead) and it desnt start as well as it use to but it doesnt sound as bad as your problem.

I'll check that ignition wire set as well, again!
I know these Mitsubishis have a mind of their own, and sometimes its just a little minor problem.
