I just got some! 24.5-8.0-13 Mickey Thompson ET Drag's

I was wondering, does anyone have advice on launching tecniques? Ones that don't involve snaping axles and tranny's (although I am so expecting that to happen sooner or later!)

The guy I bought them from (Colt 200e with 4g63t best of 11.91@118mph 1.8 60 foot) mentioned that he got the best 60 foot times when he burned them dry (no water box) is anyone else doing this?

The only problem with them is that to run them im going to have to run the smaller 200e brakes, It doesn't realy bother me because its mostly going to be a strip car,
Now I am wondering, Just how bad are these smaller solid center brakes?????

thanks for any imput
Dan

I had 22x8x15 ET Drags and I just sold them to a Honduh boy. They worked good on a 1.6 car, but on a 2.0 car with some horsepower, they would just spin all the way down the 1/8th mile. The best 60' I ever got out of them was a 1.93. I would just hold the car at about 6000 rpms and just dump the clutch. Im gonna order some M&H 24x9.2x15s once M&H tires starts producing tires again. What kind of rims are you gonna run with the 13s? If you get Bogarts or another drag style rim, they may have enough clearance to still use the bigger brakes.

The wheels they are mounted on are BART wheels, and the previous owner was getting decent (1.9) 60 foot times and these times were done at what might be the slippery track in the world! I'ce been looking around for a while and i got a good deal on these (around 10 passes)

So how has your drivetrain held up to the extra traction?

So far Ive probibly made 30-40 passes on a KM206 1.6 NT tranny and bad 1.6 axles, and nothing has broken as of yet.

I am running the same slicks with some custom made 13x8 wheels. My average 60ft times are 1.78. I made 12 passes until I broke a 3-4 shift fork in the tranny. After the new tranny I made another 8 passes before I broke the pass side axle shaft. That was all launching at full throttle off the stock rev limiter, and a 6 puck ACT disk and 2600lb pressure plate.

Well we only have an 1/8th mile track around here so here goes. On slicks on a 1.93 60' time i ran 8.43 at 82.7 mph. On 195-60-14 generic street tires i ran 8.87 at 82.x mph on like a 2.27 60' time.

I have run a best 12.05 @ 115 the first time to the track with slicks. The last 5 times to the track the car has broken something.

I only made one pass on street tires, 14.7 @ 108...very traction limited.

Thanks guys, I can't wait till summer to get my baby down the track, that is if she's ready!

Do any of you have pics of your cars with the slicks... I'd love to see them! E-mail them to me or post them on the board if you can.
Thanks again
Dan

Nitto drag radials in a 205/55-14 were only good for a 2.2X 60' time for me. They were a few *hundredths* better than my 50K mile all season radials. They did seem to hook a little better on the street but not enough to justify buying them.

You can get some sticky retreads [url=http://www.retreadsunlimited.com/:wtol01oi]here[/url:wtol01oi] in a 195/60-14 for 55-60 bux. I haven't asked them but I bet they could do a 205/60 for about the same price and you would have a little longer footprint

I run the 14" nitto drag radials on the street, but they would do no better than a 2.2 60' time at the track.

Bolted on the 22x8x15" slicks and 60' time dropped to consistent 1.7x and 1/4 mile 12.5s@108.

Needless to say the slicks make all the difference in the world. I too will be buying the M&H 24.5x15 once they are producing tires once again.

Exactly how the f*ck did you get 1.7 60' times with those slicks. They must really know how to prep a track down there.

What suspension bits do you have on your car?

No one was as surprised as me! As for suspension it has koni shocks in the back and stock struts up front. I never do a burnout either. Just a quick spin to clean them off. I also run 12psi in them. It still squats pretty bad when I launch, but hey, I'm not complaining!

Here's a link to my best 1/4 time, but not my best 60' time. I have these runs on VHS, just need to get a video capture card to upload them.

Yes, It's me. How's everything going? Here's a pic to explain the name a little.
