I purchased the 1g punishment racing fmic kit and the j pipe points directly to the front motor mount bracket because it is longer than the 1g bracket...what do you guys do to get around this...there doesn't seem to be enough room for a coupler...I thought maybe having it cut and rewelded so it pointed more toward the driver side. But if I'm not seeing something or am doing something wrong?

hard to give you direction without a photo but im pretty confident in saying your most likely going to have to cut an weld to have something you will be happy with. these cars have smaller engine bays than dsms. and there never was an aftermarket kit made up for them.

heres my hack job cheapo setup. it doesnt pertain to your project but its fun to look at. sadly i didnt take any photos of the fitment which is the most important part ](*,) i would defintely like to see some photos of your progress/mockup because i am considering the same intercooler for a more permanent setup on my rig.

It will still be a tight fit, you may want to look into a 1988 VW Scirocco radiator to replace the factory radiator. It fits inside the framework and will give you more room to work with.

Thanks for the responses here's the picture I'm going to go ahead and chop and rotate the flange because I need to weld in a nipple for my MBC anyway

If you get the right J-pipe you can make it work but you may not be able to retain the factory radiator. Here's mine..

My battery was relocated to the hatch. I then converted the factory radiator overflow into a windshield washer tank and used a small overflow tank from the auto parts store. This gave me room to move the honda radiator to the pass side more using stock rad mounts and factory holes in core support. The punishment racing J pipe I have is a little shorter than that but I found a 90* bend silicone hose that went from the Jpipe outlet to the 2.5" piping I used. This let me get away with using only 3 sections of piping and 5 connectors (although I could get two of the pipes welded together).
