For those of you running DSMLink V3, which connector type did you choose when ordering? The drop down window for this cable on the ECMTuning website has options for 1g DSM and Galant VR-4. The connector type I'm referring to is the OBD plug. I'm not sure the difference between the plugs on a 1g DSM versus a Galant VR-4. I would assume the GVR4 is closer to a Colt from a chassis wiring perspective, but I'm not 100% sure on the plug differences.

They all should have had the same wiring at the DLC connector, but I could be wrong.

The same DRBII logger was used across the entire spectrum of Mitsu cars, so it would stand to reason that there would be no difference, for this era of vehicle.

Factory manuals are located here and you can cross reference it, but I think you will find the same answer.

I bought ECMLink V3 from a site member at galantvr4.org, and I'm pretty sure it was either installed in his Galant or a DSM. wink wink.

You can also ask at the ECMLink website directly. They will know 100%.

Yeah I've sent Dave Mertz a message in regards to it and figured I'd parallel the question here on the boards. I was pretty sure the connections were the same compared to a 1g DSM, but I've never owned or worked on GVR4s so I had no reference point there. Thanks.

I looked at the OEM service manual wiring diagrams for the 89-92 Colt/Summit/Mirage versus 1g Eclipse/Talon/Laser and it looks like the diagnostic connector in both shares the same connections to the ECU. From the diagnostic connector on both cars, pin 1 goes to ECU pin 1 (Self-Diagnostics Output), and pin 2 goes to ECU pin 2 (Diagnostics Data Transfer Select). Each have two other connections but they are for the A/T control unit and/or cruise control and should be irrelevant. Looks like the Galant shares the same connections as well from the Galant GTX electrical diagrams.

So the answer to the question for future reference is a 1g DSMLink V3 datalogging cable will work just fine. RTFM! :D
