I have a 4g63t cyclone swap into my 95 elantra out of I believe a 1990 galant super vr4. It didn't come with a maf sensor so I bought a 2g 609 maf but for some reason isn't working with it.does anyone know the right maf I need?

Okay, unplug that sensor right away and do not use it ever again unless you rewire the loom properly.

Check out www.galantvr4.org and you will get a quick answer to this.

2G MAF's are wired differently, and don't even have the same plug. Were you wiring based upon the writeups on DSM Vfaq.com?

The HZ signal will be out of range, whether it is wired properly or not. Big problem.

You need the right sensor for the ECU to see the proper airflow and run at all, without damaging the engine and catalytic converter.

MAF sensor would need to match the ECU and wire harness you used for the swap. 90-94 harness used 1g MAF. 95-99 harness used 609 2g maf. 2g MAF however was an upgrade to a 1g car. but it had to be wired in to function. and of course retuned. an evo 8 maf is by far best maf to use. as it flows nearly as much as speed density up to around 450whp. it also needs to be wired into harness.

The page won't let me log in an ask. I just need to know what mass air flow a 1990 galant vr4 jap runs with a MD150427 ecu cause that's the ecu that came with the motor and running everything

Should be a 1g MAF. It may be difficult to get it wired for a 1g maf, but if you can get a plug with enough wire, you can just reverse the 1g to 2g wiring here http://vfaq.com/index-main.html

Essentially you have an ECU designed to get more power out of 1G setup that the VR4 shared with 1g's by changing the fuel mappings, using the cyclone adn sometimes a small 16g.

What is your location? didn't see it in you profile.

1992 GVR4 866/1000 (getting everything from above)

The harness has the green wires for a 1g plug but did the swap to a 2g plug for the 609 maf cause what I looked up said it would work but I see it doesn't. I'm just trying to get the regular stock 1g maf for the motor an ecu at this point everywhere I search won't tell me. I bout the motor from a JDM shop with no maf, So i don't know what the stock maf is for the motor and ecu. My location is Denton Tx I thought I put that on my profile

Work based off of this thread I will list below.

They list as the compatible parts from TEL's (Talon, Eclipse, Lasers) that will work with your ECU.

Sign up at Galantvr4.org or just navigate your way there:

http://www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/sho ... =0&fpart=1

If you can't login, then use this stuff for a search:

Galant VR-4 Forums » Galant VR-4 » Technical Discussions » MD150427 ECU anyone got any info?

I googled this to get the response posted above:

"MD150427"

First post that came up was at the 6th Gen galant site. It is a very good read.

The Galant VR4 came with the same thing as a 1g MAF, but they're basically "hacked" from the factory with the lower honeycomb portion removed. Everything else about them is the same as a normal 1g MAF

GVR4 MAF is on the left, 1g DSM on the right

Good luck finding a GVR4 MAF in any sort of original condition
