Ok guys, new to the colt scene but not new to the Dsm world. Picked up a 92 Plymouth colt last week for 200$, no engine or trans. Has new kyb gr2 all around and pizza cut tires.

I already got the adapter harness, 92 turbo engine harness and 92 eprom Ecu
I got 91 eagle summit DL front knuckles today for the 5 lug/duel piston DSM conversion, also ordered 89miragemans motor mounts
I am working on getting a turbo colts clutch pedal assembly since this 92 has the cable style.

So I just want to verify if I got my part list right on things I still need

Obviously 4g63t motor with DSM fwd transmission
87-90 mirage turbo right side axle?
90-92 mirage non turbo left axle
Will these axles work with the DSM fwd trans and summit knuckles?

To the 5 lug conversion

My 91 summit DL wagon knuckles
91-94 turbo DSM hubs, wheel bearings and seals(does it matter fwd or awd?)
94 turbo DSM duel piston calipers and brackets with rotors
94 DSM strut perch with my existing 92 colt kyb gr2's and 91-94 DSM eibach sport line springs

Now for the rear conversion

Will the 5lug hubs press into my existing 92 colt? Also will those DSM sportline springs work with the existing colt rear suspension?

Thinks that's pretty much it lol

What year is your FWD transmission? I would recommend you going with a equal length setup if you are on a 90-92 Transmission, just get a half shaft from a DSM and try to get the Mirage Turbo driver side axle...

For axles (I have the Expo knuckles and f5m33 tranny) I am using the Colt GT passenger side and colt GT half shaft/equal length on the driver side. YOu will snap the bajeeziz out of that non-turbo axle with a turbo setup.

I plan on running a 91-94 fwd turbo DSM transmision. I'm hoping to run across a Dsm being parted out so I can have everything under the hood. I plan on getting a 1g awd half shaft also

I'm doing more and more research on converting the rear to 5 lug, with rear disc conversion. Front is easy, rear on the other hand I'm not finding to much info. What 89mirageman told me is to get 92 mirage sedan rear hubs and press out the 3 of the 4 studs and line up holes using a DSM rear rotor and drill new holes.

Just a fyi, late 92-94 FWD turbo trans used a bigger splined axle set up like a 2g fwd and will not work with turbo CSM axles. You could perhaps use Elantra lower control arms and the late 92-94 fwd axles but the fwd drivers axel isn't equal length and that would sway me right there to not even think about that set up. Just find a proper fwd turbo trans that uses the same style axels as a awd trans and you'll avoid a huge ball of wax and headache all together.

Thank you for the heads up! I haven't heard this at all. So what transmission do you suggest? A 89 colt gt trans?

It will work but honestly I would just look for a 91 to mid 92 turbo fwd trans, the km210 from the turbo CSM trans has super short gearing that is a pita to run on the highway. It also has some weaker qualities that it shares with the 90 fwd turbo DSM, I wont go into detail here but trust me just go with a f5m33 out of the 91 to mid 92.

So is there a vin on the trans I need to look for to verify 90-92?

A local A1 engines here in Dallas has a 92 fwd with everything I need. There asking way to much imop on the motor/trans/all accessories/ harness/Ecu and stock intercooler(1600$):(

I'm running a f5m31 transmissiom from a 94-98 Galant, I have been with these transmissioms for years and they seem to hold pretty well plus you can use equal length axles, that would be a great choice if you have trouble finding a good 90-92 f5m33.

^Good point, a local yard just got in a 7th gen manual galant a month or so ago. Been meaning to drop by and yank the trans to use in my 4g coupe in the future. Unless someone is interested in it  . As a parts guy I have to make money first and then work on my own stuff. It would be in the $150-$175 range plus shipping of course if anybody is interested.

Not without some major fabrication. The brake booster is on the drivers side while yours is on the passengers side. The 92-95 elantra pedal will be the closest to fit, not counting one from a 3g csm that is.

sorry to hijack but im interested in this as fwd transmission options. Can you explain a little about using f5m31s?
Are the 7g galant trans 2g mounting style or is it a bolt in for our colts (1g)?

Just some stuff I ran into as there is some good posts about cv axles but I took care of the seal problem for you for the fwd trans to manual awd 90-91 intermediate shaft. Also, I ground .25in off the splines that go into the trans....there is a right up I will try to find and add
viewtopic.php?f=26&t=38025

It would be nice for you to add to your original list (like the seal part number) as I don't think anyone has ever wrote out every exact part you need to do the conversion. :D

including the shift cable problems you have not addressed yet

They are 2g style with one mount on the top, one on the back and another on the front. But you can remove all of those and bolt the older style mount to the top. The mounting surface is stepped and everything, perfect fit. Also, the good thing about the galant trans is that it still uses the smaller axle splines unlike the 2g fwd turbo dsm's.
