So I'm wondering, if a 64 crank will work in a 63 block would it be able to fit the 61 block just the same ? I figure with special rods and piston it could fit but would it work ? Will the engine be balanced enough to handle that kind of stroke/Rpm without it having a balanced shaft ?

That will be the next step but for now It's staying natural. What I want to know is If it will work and how reliable would it be. |

I know it's been done a lot on the 63 but how often has it been done on the 4G61 ?

no because the stroke and rod length on a 61 is shorter than a 63.... to my knowledge no one makes a rod/piston combo for that in a 61... when they do the 2.3 stroker in a 63 it still uses the stock rod length... its just a diff crank and custom pistons.. so with that said a company would have to custom make a mold to make the pistons for you.. and normally they wont do that for just 1 set...and it would cost more than a new car almost lol... now if u can figure out a smaller honda piston that might fit then u might be able to make something work.. but if it doesnt then it will go boom.. on the 61 the best thing to do is put a 1.8 hyundia dohc head on it.. it raises the comp .4... so the stock 8.0:1 comp would be 8.4:1. Europe got special pistons, pushing above 9-10:1 compression ratio. This may have only been in the 4G67 motors, so you have to know what deck height the 4g67 motor used, and if the crank interchanges with that motor. Anyone know the specs on the 4g67 crank? I know it's archived at www.lilevo.com/mirage/ <- likely in the pre release brochures at the end, something like photo 24.  www.partsbase.org is also your new friend. |

4G67 81.5 Bore x 88 Stroke 4G67 and 4G63 share the same crank i confirm that ! 4G67, 4G61 and 4G63 share the same rod's 4G67 pistons don't fit in the 4G61 82.3 bore bloc. 4g61 deck height is shorter and the wrist pin is located higher in the 4g61 piston for the dome to sit lower enough to not hit the head. Installing a 4g63 piston which is designed to sit exactly that much higher, as in the height difference between the 4g61 and 4g63 blocks, will result in the piston sitting outside the block, completely and utterly in the head/combustion chamber. Won't work, unless I thought that through incorrectly. |

plus there diff bore sizes.. 85mm 4g63.. and I think its 82.5 or 83 for the 4g61. Steve |
