hmm, maybe. I ended up just cleaning the threads up and cleaned up the mounting surfaces and popped it back on/torqued them down...everything felt good. The piston in the number 1 cylinder looked a little damaged, and the head had 2 different looking valves compared to the rest...interesting finds.
Either way if i take the head off again in the near future i'll just get some new bolts or studs and exchange the gasket for a new one since its got a 1 yr warranty. Sux to do things twice, but if i have to do it, then thats what i'll do.
Thanks for all the help and info, much appreciated. as soon as its back in time and i get it running i'll keep u all posted/updated.
Good to know flying eagle...i actually left the intake manifold on, but if i get the cash i may remove it to replace it if the gaskets i change around the throttle body and egr valve dont solve the problem of hard starting/only runs on starting fluid.
