I imagine this is what the op means.
If he sourced a bare longblock 63 could he use all 61 externals and accessories to create a complete drop in package?
Thank you for clarifying this for me.

I would like a drop in engine. If I buy a bare rebuilt long block like this one:

http://www.karking.com/index.php/rebuil ... ngine.html

Will I be able to create a drop in engine using the components from the 61t? Such as oil pan, intake manifold, thermostat housing etc...?

I know I will need a maf, ecu, (exhaust manifold, mine is cracked), turbo setup.

Or is it better to buy a jdm do you think?

I would strongly advise against getting anything from karking, or jasper, or any of those engine suppliers. It's bad news.

A JDM motor is a great option, but they are typically very expensive. The best thing is finding a known-working longblock from somebody, or one that needs a rebuild, and have it rebuilt by a professional to your liking. I'd recommend going with a 4G63 just because the availability of parts is way better, and the engine makes a LOT more torque right out of the box. It's quite noticeable. Being able to say you still have the 1.6 is cool and all, but it's just not practical IMO, unless you find a complete engine for sale for cheap.

yes all external parts interchange ( alt.ps pump..all that stuff)... but... the 61 intake and exhaust manny's have smaller ports than the 63. I have a stock 1g intake and exhaust manny I will sell u for 30 bucks for both..

the only MAIN diff (other than port sizes) is the water pump and timing belt are diff due to the 61 having a shorter deck height.

only thing u need to do is add a knock sensor and run the wire to the ecu for the 63...... unless your 61 has one already.. I am not 100% positive but I have read the 61 DOES NOT!!! come with one.. but the swap I did a few years ago. (61 is now in my mirage) actually had one and wire was in the factory harness.. so im not 100% sure anymore lol.... if yours had the sensor and plug factory that would be awesome.

4G61T definitely has a knock sensor. Non-Turbos do not have them.

What's the difference about the 61 fuel rail? Which other parts are special and worth to be kept though?

The 4g61t fuel rail (possibly the same as other models on different displacements of Sirius motors) had a different length to it. I want to say it is shorter, and allows a proper position of the stock fuel lines inbound to the rail from the filter. It's been a while, but there is a difference.

It is shorter, maybe about a inch roughly.

Pretty sure it's the same as a '90 4g63 fuel rail. They had a different line coming from the fuel filter, and the flange is angled differently. I learned this the hard way when I tried to put a '90 fuel rail on my car with a '91+ TPS...it wouldn't fit. The '90 throttle bodies have different sensors on them, which would also be the same as a 4g61 throttle body.

But the other end is same length? Just asking for installation of a fuel rail fitting for an afpr where the Dash6 angle is 2mm too long and touching the timing cover :(

Thanks for the information so far :)

The bolting locations and the position of the injectors is the same. You can clearly see the different angle on the flange and the length difference.
