2nd one has a chip put in it.. you need to open up your ecu and see if there is one in there.... if so it needs to be what they call..socketed.. they take out the stock chip.. put in a new piece so u can install a upgraded chip...(new piece/socket)

this is what the socket looks like.

or in my case you plug in the ostrich ribbon to run speed density.

i have been thinking about buying tuning software as ive seen them before but was never sure if it would work with my car

That software is purely for datalogging. You can't tune the ecu through the diagnostic port, on a stock ecu.
