First off, i totally get that most everyone seems to always want to go with the "bigger is always better" position when it comes to atleast these engines.

With that said, I have a 4G61 from a 92 Elantra & id like to know what will be necessary if i were to swap it into a 2g late 90's eclipse awd 5 speed chasis with a crankwalked 7 bolt 4g63 (pretty common to find these around here for some reason...).

on top of that, are there any major differences in the NA/T 4G61 cranks if i were to go the route of FI down the road? an yes i realize that an NA 4g61 AWD 2g eclipse is not going to be fast by any stretch of the imagination, thats not why im interested in building one (i love my short stroke 1.6's).

any help is greatly appreciated!! :)

The 4g63 and 4g61 are damn near identical. The swap would basically be just like doing a 6-bolt swap into a 2g. The blocks, cranks and rods are the same between the 4g61 and 4g61t. Some tuning equipment will be necesary to compensate for your smaller-discplacement-non-turbo engine as your factory ECU will not like working with the 4g61 without a turbo nor will a 4g61 ECU work with your 2g chassis.

thank you so much for the prompt response & for not pushing for a 4g63!! :)

what would be necessary to use the 2g ecu with the 4g61 if i went the route of turboing it, & will the turbo/turbo header from the 4g63 7 bolt bolt up the the 4g61?

Yes, the turbo manifold bolts up. As we said, it's pretty much the same engine. In your other thread; which is almost exactly the same as this one, I mentioned that doing this swap would be the same as doing any other 6-bolt swap in a 2g, and there is a TON of documentation on how to do this. Asking about it on this forum isn't really the right place, because not as many people are doing 6-bolt swaps in 2g DSM's here, because we focus on CSM's mainly. Check out DSMTuners, there are pages and pages of info if you search around.
