Check the PCV valve.
Do a compression test, and leak down test.
Simple enough to do, likely you have a blown oil control ring(s) in one cylinder or your valve stem seal(s) are leaking down badly.
Seals can be changed with the head in place, if need be.

Car sitting a long time?
Has this been coming about gradually?
Idle only? Accel only?

Hey mate, thank you for the prompt reply!
No, the car has been regularly run, previous owner told me it was smoking at about 120,000kms on the clock. It is now at 132,000 and smokes both on idle and during acceleration also (mind, it smokes alot more with pressing the gas pedal).

Will certainly look at gettting the oil control rings redone, but do you think i may need to rebore the tunnels for the pistons too?

most likely valve stem seals.
they can be changed with the head on the car. although its a little tougher than on a bench.
