Hey guys, just wondering if its safe to delete the EGR valve in a turbocharged engine? Research on the internet has shown that the EGR actually keeps combustion temp down so would removing it be dumb? Obviously the cooler we can keep things the better right? Has anyone on here removed the EGR with no ill effects? Do you guys even have an EGR valve to begin with? |

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/wayback/BradBa ... e/egr.html EGR is only introduced at light throttle and steady cruise. It helps keep down pollution when you are not foot to the floor. 99.9% of street cars drive like this, all day long. Yes, you can remove it and block it off. |

I removed my egr because it was leaking. Had no ill effects. Infact it may even cool your intake temps a bit and its one less that can go wrong later on down the line. |

That's one of my first "mods" per-say on all my 4g63's. They are old and most likely leak, just block it off and don't worry about it. The only car I've had throw a code is my 92 laser with CA emissions. |

A leaking EGR is just another boost leak right? Lol yea I probably will delete it in the future then, thanks everyone! I still got some more questions but Ill try not to be annoying with them. Speaking of boost leak, Im pretty sure youre not supposed to hear air coming out the top of my tial wastegate right? |

So it's air not exhaust? Do you have the top port of the waste-gate venting? if so maybe you'll hear a slight hiss? but if you're using a boost controller or something hooked up to that port and its leaking i would say that's a leak lol but I don't know, Ive never been fortunate enough to own a tial wg Also a link and some more info for your egr. http://www.thedsmgraveyard.com/product_ ... ockoff.htm |

^Yea the top port is just venting to the atmosphere, but even when I try to plug up that top port you still hear air/exhaust... I needa open up the wastegate and check out the diaprapgm cause I believe the wastegate is what is causing me problems.. also so I can finally confirm just what the heck spring is in there cause I got it used, not brand new. Also thank you for that link! I will check that out a little later |
