Anyone know the easiest way to change the airconditioning compressor? please. We have no idea where to start or to take it out from or anything. Thanks.. Charleyturbo. |

From underneath - its a bitch cause its fat and heavy should be 4 very long bolts. removing alternator belt as well. |

Have the system professionally evacuated first. Then remove components, reinstall with proper amount of compressor (this may change to PAG from POE but depends on what you install for refrigerant) oil added (read the manuals for this and consult the shop that removed the R12 for you). You can then have the car taken back to the shop, they can supply the proper fitting to retrofit to R134a, install a new dryer, put in new seals and draw the system down on vacuum for 30 minutes pressurize the system with the proper amount of Freon (for lack of the exact name). This is what you should do to be safe, for you and the environment, and keep things operating properly for some time to come. Take it to a reputable shop and have them install and remove everything if you do not have access to proper charge/evacuate tools and R134a or similar retrofit chemicals. Please and thank you. |
