Trying like hell to get the OFH off so I can port the relief valve. I'm seeing 110+psi of oil pressure on my gauge on a cold start. Once warm it will sit around 90-100psi @ 4k rpms at cruise speed. Anyways someone replaced my 4 harmonic balancer bolts with hex head (allen) bolts, making my life even easier. The only solution I'm seeing is to notch the body slightly so I can loosen the harmonic balancer bolts one at a time. Then I have to somehow fight the pulley off so I can get to the 4th bolt on the OFH thats under the timing cover. Any tricks out there to this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. |

Loosen the center crank pulled bolt using the stock service hole. Then take the upper engine mount loose, that might give you enough clearance to get one bolt out at a time. if not unbolt the trans mount and use a jack to tilt the engine down so you can get to them. |

I ended up drilling a hole big enough to get my 3/8 extension through it.. then took the balancer bolts out one by one. Then I had to pull the main crank bolt in order to get the harmonic balancer down. Never done that before.. there anything special I should know when I impact the crank bolt back on? Now I'm stuck trying to get the last timing cover bolt off, the one behind the water pump pulley. No room to work in there!! |

Got the water pump pulley off, and the lower timing cover. Going to tackle the OFH housing tomorrow. Tried to save the oil from the pan as I've spent $40 on fresh oil only to dump it all out 3 times now... and ended up dumping it all over the garage floor Will pull OFH and port pretty big so I dont have to take all this crap apart again |

Study all the photos of those previously done online and check to see what pressures they were seeing with the amount of porting each person did. Just don't go overboard. |

Well I thought I went overboard.. but I guess not. Oil pressure is better but still kind of high. Before I was seeing over an est. 120psi (gauge only goes to 100.. it was soaring past) I switched from 15w40 to 10w30 as well between porting and non porting Now It's maxing around 80-90psi at WOT. Cruise rpm its sitting around 60-70psi. I feel a little better about it. Now that I've done it its not too hard.. it went back together a lot smoother than it came apart. So maybe after I get some miles out of this oil I'll take it apart and port a little bigger or maybe cut a coil off the spring. Read that could help too. I've gone through about 20 quarts of oil now in the past month with almost no driving |

Haha, that is my FB reaction in that last post. By that I mean that you have flushed out the dirty oil from every possible spot, including the injectors, <- ** woops meant lifters *** I do a multiple oil change on every new car I get, but I work where the oil comes out of a gun on the ceiling. I then install synthetic if it was not already, and keep going. Heck I have even flushed my motors with synthetic. |
