I've just did my conversion swap from 4g61 - 4g63 vr4, with 4g61 loom. I've had this exact conversion in a previous car and it seemed alot smoother in revving as to now it'll boost slow till 4-5k and take off. Maybe its just my memory lol but is there any way I can find out if the butterfly is activated? |

You could manually wire the butterflies open and take it for a run and see if there's a difference. |

It sounds like your short runners are constantly open. The long runners are to create torque and the butterfly valve opens the short runners for high end horsepower. The only thing I am not sure about on this manifold design is if both ports are open at high RPMs. If not, it sounds like your butterfly valve is not working correctly and that its stuck open in the short runner position only. |

Long and skinny = low end, Short and fatter = high end. This manifold should only have one set of runners open when it switches over IIRC. |

It should have both open once you cross the threshold. One set is shut at the lower RPM range to create velocity in the airflow but opens at 4250 to accomodate for the increased demand of volume at the higher RPM ranges. You can use DSMLink and a factory Fuel Pressure Solenoid (I have personally done this) or take apart the diaphragm that opens the butterflies, flip the spring over, and re-assemble. Then run a vacuum hose to a port that would see boost and use a boost controller to control when it opens (I have also done this personally). The drawback to using boost is that it is imprecise. There is a lot of information regarding the Cyclone dual-plane manifold on Tooners and other palces. |
