I have a Frozenboost type S style BOV and I'm trying to adjust the spring preload... I bought a mityvac handpump and with just the light spring in the BOV it opens way too soon, like 6 inHg( and the adjustment screw is practically all the way tight) while the bigger spring starts opening at about 12inHg and fully opens at 15... The bigger spring gave me a much better idle but I think I was getting surge... kinda hard to tell since I am recirc'd however whereas the lighter spring it seems like its opening while in boost? My engine vac going by my vac/boost gauge is 13 and using a dedicated vacuum tester, replacing the FPR vac line that goes to the intake manifold the gauge said its 17... I thinking I need to try to find a spring that is a happy medium between the two springs, am I correct? But where to buy springs? Tial sells springs but you are just paying for the name with them, I dont want to spend 30 bucks when I can just get the same springs that tial sells for much much cheaper somewhere else know what I mean?

The spring doesn't hold it shut during boost, a common misconception. The boost coming through the vacuum/reference line holds it shut against the boost passing through it. If you are getting 13" of vacuum while running, you only need a spring that can overcome that amount.

So I need a spring rated at 14 then? So I do need a heavier spring then pretty much?

could try some washers under the spring? I did that in a RFL and it seem to help to creeping open after revving  I have a hks and the springs are color coded & rated at different psi depending what your looking to go for..
