Well, i have already a nice 14B from 89Mirageman ( thanks my friend ) . My Setup: 4G61T stock motor 4G67 head ( rebuild by local motor shop, valve seat and surfacing ) , light porting and polishing by me. crower spring and retainer New ss valves, seals and guide 1G turbo camshaft ( HKS 264/264 coming soon ) 560cc Denso ( i have FIC 1250cc ready for E85 ) AFPR Denso fuel pump 300lph HP 3P down pipe/ 2.5P end, SS ECMLink V3 SD setup PWR air to water IC setup with small FMIC for heat exchanger. For street application ( and hill racing ) with fast spool and great power band (4G61T) Best turbo are : 14B stock 14B with porting Small 16G Big 16G EVO 3 16G Thanks for good input |

These really are the best options for a 1.6L. EVO 3 16g has the most potential while still having pretty good spool. That's what I would go with.

Evo3 big 16g, the "g" series turbos have 2 times the compressor fins making it a more efficient design. I have one and I love it, I can barely tell the difference in spool time from the 11b. |

My evo 3 16g only has 6 fins on the compressor side? |

Evo3 should be twin scroll, yes? 12 blades in that case? 14b on my 4g61t was great, did ride in an Evo3 4g61t setup and it came on hard and fast once spooled, but it depends upon you driving style and transmission to where you have gearing for all this. The KM210 is good at keeping the RPM's quite high and this can help in the city, and with AutoCross events. |

I've always thought that twin scroll meant the exhaust housing was divided. I didn't think it had anything to do with the wheels themselves.

Not sure, in this case I always picture a set of double blades where there was once one blade per section, when going to an EVO 3 turbo. Could be 100% wrong though. Hmmmm ... |

Twin scroll has a divided exhaust inlet, the manifold then must be divided then too to make use of it properly, but would still work with a normal manifold. ![]() - From here: http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-0906- ... index.html |

^ Yes a twin scroll turbo would work with an open manifold of the same flange, but it would work very poorly. the exhaust is supposed to be smoothly pulsated into the turbine housing, avoiding turbulence at all cost. Imagine what that divider would do to a nice smooth exhaust flow before entering the turbine housing? My authentic evo 3 has 6 blades, other versions and 14b's, ect, ect have 12 blades. That doesn't decipher twin scroll/non-twin scroll. It's just how they were made. |

evo 3 has 12 blades. 6 small and 6 large. this is ALL beside the point. if you can swing the 5-600 bucks the evo3 is a solid choice. the b series has nearly identical spool time but nowhere near the flow potential of the g's. |

Thanks for your help ![]() 14B = 30lb/min 16g = 34lb/min Big 16g = 36lb/min EVO III Big 16g = 36-40lb/min (DSMLink has logged several 40+) 14B = 405 CFM at 21psi 16G = 505 CFM at 22psi Well, my small PWR barel are rated for 450 CFM ( small engine bay ) ... Best idea: 14B ported or EVO III Big 16G at 15/17 psi . For fast spool up an great power band ??? KM210 tranny of course Thanks |

I guess I was wrong about the double fins, but the fins still look way more efficient on the 16g. Still EVO316g FTW! |

I'm saying E316G because I've had many different turbos and the G family of turbos are very efficient as well as reliable. The spoolup times between the two are barely noticeable. |
