This applies to my 4g63t swapped 1992 Eagle Summit wagon/van.

It originally had the 4g64 sohc engine installed. Came with a tach from factory on the cluster. The 4g64 uses a internal coil inside the distributer and gets it's tach signal from there? I would like to get the tach to work like it should from factory. Wondering if this is even possible.

anyways i tried to run my tach signal to the proper wire for the stock intrument cluster for the tach but i get nothing.
Tach just sits at 0... al the time.

Is there any way to get the tach to work? (2.4L sohc tach with the 4g63 DOHC DIS engine.)

I think you'll need a tach filter wired in to combine the two separate coil signals into one for the gauges to read.

Thats what I would do, grab a 90 dsm tach filter (all 92-95 hyundai elantra's use them too) and wire it to your current coil pack. Then take the extra wire and run it to the tach wire in the dash.

If you compare one to a 91+ coil pack it will be obvious. It mounts on with two small screws and a few of the wires go to the coils, then there is a third wire that goes to the four wire plug, white wire I think. This is the one that you tap into your dash/cluster.

Did this work? I am facing the same problem on '93 Summit Wagon.

I know that I could install a DSM tach, but I am trying to see if there are any better options.
