Ok so i bought another 92 talon tsi awd. Its one of those cars that i know NOTHING about the history. It appears as though the motor/trans has been changed, and never finished. The last owner couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start and basically gave me the car. After about 4 hours of troubleshooting, starting from square a, it was backfiring and i decided to rotate the cam sensor 90 degrees And it started right up. So i figured out what, i just for the life of me can't figure out why. The cam/ engine timing is correct, checked with the valve cover off. The cam sensor is also known working. Did they make more than one type of cam sensor for different years with different orientations

as far as I know there all the same... no odd oriantation (sp)

I do know the 90 cas has a diff plug setup.. it actually has wires coming out of it to a plug on the back side of the intake by the TB... the 91-94s have the plug right on the cas itself.

as far as back firing.. check the firing order..and pull the plugs to see if there wet (flooded)..

sounds like something isnt jiving with the timing lol.

you probably have a 97-99 cas, they run 180 out. or your spark plug wires are not connected in the right order.

No sorry i should have mentioned the firing order is correct, it came off a running 92 tsi, all the wires are numbered and i never unplugged themn from the coil pack side. However, changing the firing order is how i will fix the problem. Fixing the problem is not the issue, i merely wanted to understand why its there. I was thinking maybe 2nd gen head or something. This could very well be a 2nd gen motor in this car, probably is.
