hey everyone,

ive been reading on the forum about the 4g63t swap into an elantra, my problem is im still unclear on what exactly i need and need to do since its a 95

i know i need the motor, tranny, ecu and harness but what about the car being a 95, do i have to change the whole wiring harness with the 4g63 harness? or i read i can change it to a 92-94 elantra harness but wasnt completely sure if that was true and what connectors I would have to add. Also when I do the swap is everything just a bolt in, like all i have to do it bolt the motor and tranny up, rewire the harness, fab some intercooler and exhaust piping and its ready to go?

any help would be appreciated
Thanks Pete

don't know about the wiring , but the engine and everything else is bolt-in if you use your stock tranny. I don't know what axels you'd have to use if you used a DSM/GVR4 tranny. Hope this helps a little.

Pete!!! What's up. Glad that you join here and swapping the elantra  Well the answer to your question is everything from a DSM will bolt on besides the engine mounts and brackets which you need to use them from the elantra. Everything else is a walk in the park, very easy and yeah you have to hard wire the turbo harness or mod the elantra harness, which isn't hard to do, I've done it already.

This is the list of parts you need:

1) 4g63t engine 6 bolt

2) turbo harness and ECU

3) turbo tranny and axles

4) Upgrade brakes, 2.0L hyundai sontana brakes (4 lug) + hubs or out of a galant or gvr4

The rest is putting everything together and bolting it down. Well I can see that I'm going to spend some time on this car, hehe.

All you need is to use a 1g dsm harness, and 4 wires to make it run. First, just hook up the harness as if it was a dsm where the plugs and connectors in the right spot. Second, get yourself a copy of the 1g ecu pin out so you can do your wiring to the car to run. Now, very simple instructions, you need constant 12 volt power, find the pin that has it. Next, ground of course which any ground will work, no need to get ground from ecu. Third wire you need "key on power" when you turn on the key with out starting it so the ecu knows its on (constant power is to keep memory). Fourth wire, signal to start switch is black with yellow stripe. Also DON'T forget wiring the fuel pump and strongly recommend wiring it to "key on" power, this way it's professional + no switches meeded. Hope this helps you on your journey to having fun with a 4g63 hyundai.

Dinally have the harness wired up.The car running but is running really rich so rich it's throwing black smoke, when at idle or while driving it. It's a stock 6 bolt 4g63t cyclone motor with 2g maf but everything else stock with blue injectors.

2g mas will make it run rich, need safc or something to compensate the richness. Also ditch the cyclone intake, you will make less

If you are running a 2gMAF, you can also plop in some 550 or 560 injectors (560's are best) and she will run much better
