Post subject:  Throttle Bodies

Is there a difference between 1G and 2G throttle bodies? Turbo and non turbo throttle bodies? Will a 2G throttle body bolt up to a 1G intake manifold?
Is it possible to put a 75mm throttle body on a 1G intake manifold? What are the sizes of 1G and 2G throttle bodies? Sorry for all the questions and I appreciate all answers. Thanks.

No, no and no. You can put a 2g on a 1g but its smaller. A 1G is 60 mm and a 2g is 58 mm. You could get an addapter made to put a 75 mm t/b on a 1G intake but its a real waste since it will still be going through a 60 mm hole, maybe 65 mm if you port it out. You can get a 64 mm reman 1G t/b and port your intake to match but thats about as big as it gets on stock intake manifolds.

Actually, you were only half right.

1g throttle body = 60mm

2g throttle body = 52mm

Mitsu went to great lenghts to make sure everything was the same size on a 2g. All the IC piping, inlets/outlets on the IC, and throttle body were all around 2.25" in diameter.

turbomirage89 - If I were you i'd just stick to the stock 1g throttle body. It's plenty large, and will support a ton of power. I've heard of people making beyond 700whp with a stock 1g throttle body. You'll especially want to keep the throttle body stock if you never plan on ugprading your intake manifold.

Also, try searching next time. All the questions you've been asking lately have been asked before.

1g NT TBs are different than turbo TBs. The turbo TBs require a flange/pipe to be bolted to them so you can hook up you intercooler piping, whereas the NT TB already has a nice little place for a 2.75" coupler. Also, The 1g TBs aren't a bottleneck if you are tryin to make decent HP, its the intake manifold itself, though I suppose it depends on what kinda powerband you are shooting for.

an goos option is to use the 1G tb but use an 2G tb elbow,, this elbo is bigger than the 1g, bigger = more airflow

Yeah, I plan on using the 1G throttle body, since I have a 1G head and 1G intake manifold. Next time I'll search some more and thanks for all your help.
