Wire in a 91-94 power transistor/ignition module in place of your 89-90 one. You will find that the 91-94 one has an extra pin. That's the tach signal you want to use for your ECU. The signal from your coil tach interface should only go to your tach via the filter, and the one from your 91-95 ignition module goes directly to your ECU.

FYI: The "Filter" and the "Tacho interface" are two seperate parts.

I think is the 89-90 that has 4 wires plug and the 91-94 has 3 wires plug.

Yeah, on the coil pack, but you'll find the late model ignition module has one extra pin over the older unit. That's the tach signal that the late ECU expects to see.

Ok, I remove pin 109 to make a try, base on comments from Jeff at dsmchips. The tach work fine now.

So I order from him his dsm 90 tach adapter. http://www.dsmchips.com/viewproduct.php?id=32

(Without pin 109, your ecu doesn't see missfire and ecu can't troubleshoot coil pack problems)

Now I can have a 89-90 wiring harness with my 94 dsm turbo ecu/maf that work fine together with tach.

MSD makes a tach adapter. It's a bit pricier than the junkyard route, but should accomplish the same thing.

At the risk of depleting my future spare parts supply I'll share this bit of info : Hyundai used the 4gxx series in the mid size elantra and base model full size Sonata. Yeah I know common knowledge but its the details that aren't common knowledge ( and it seems more often, common misconceptions ) Hyundais up to 96-97 ish that had 4gxx motors used the early 89-90 DSM style tach pulse from 90-96 for sure (97 was a changeover year for bigger hyundais) so if you guys are having difficulty finding tach adaptors hit up that elantra or sonata at the local yard, grab the 5 pin power transistor too as long as you're in there. Cool bonus is Hyundai stuff often sells cheaper than fancy mitsu turbo parts to the average junkyard.

My vehicle is a 1991 Lancer GTI with a 4G15 MPI and the gauges are black ( Color seems to matter? ) and I installed a 4G67 from a Eterna/Galant, would my tach work out of the box?
