I'm so close to buying an OEM Mirage Turbo passenger side axle.

My boot keeps pulling off of the CV joint at the transmission. I'm sure anyone else with aftermarket axles can attest.

There has to be some type of deviation from the OEM length/quality.

I might do the same thing when i do my trans swap. I have the 4g61na sedan with an automatic and im going swap to a km210 and even though factory axles will be pretty expensive i might just do it to save me from all the bullshit.. i wont brake them with a 4g61na. I could just pick up the intermediate shaft from a 1G and get the axles from mitsu if they still sell them

I think it was made clear already, but I absolutely have to double-check with y'all. I am going to replace my driver's side axel on my 4g61t. Now, theoretically, I can use the same axel off a FWD 4g63t, correct?

4g61t csm? You don't want to use a fwd dsm axle. Call up carquest with the right part number and get the right axle. Take out the old one, give them back the old one, over and done with it's about $70.

It's just off a parts car with a 4g63t....which was transplanted from an original 4g61t. Soooooo...I don't know the tranny combo, and I am afraid to ask the owner anyways.....just wanted to be clear here if that axle is compatible with the 1.6 liter. But you know just took care of that, thanks!

I wanted to take a driver's side axle out of a 4g63t and use it in my 4g61t. They were telling me that it's not possible.

So, is the drivers side shaft the same between a turbo CSM and a turbo DSM? I'm talking the outboard side of the shaft, not the section that bolts to the block?

You mean AWD DSM, since it has the intermediate shaft.

If someone can verify this, then yes I suppose it is the same. MR HYDE I believe mentioned something about this working.

I tried the DSM outer shaft, and it's too long.

Redsleeper ran into the same problem here:

http://forum.4g61t.org/viewtopic.php?t=20108

Anyone else confirm this??

IMHO the only axles that work in an 89-92 Mirage are 89 Turbo axles which includes a 1G AWD, 1.6L T, or GVR4 intermediate shaft that bolts to the block. 1.6L turbo outer driver axle will work with any of these stub shafts. Maybe this is where people are getting confused. 1.6L turbo axles work with a 1.6L turbo trans or AWD trans. No vibrations, no issues, etc.

THat is probably the case. I was going by the numerous other threads in which everyone says the DSM, CSM drivers shaft is the same, which it is not.

I ordered a new shaft yesterday. I expect it'll work now.

You might be confusing the halfshaft as being the same. It nearly is, the turbo mirage halfshaft (which bolts to the block) can be swapped for the 1g awd halfshaft, the seals are a little different however.
