I can have a deal to get some DSM 90 shifter bushing in polyurethane. I know the DSM 91+ are different from DSM 90. Is there anyone know if shifter bushing from DSM 90 are fitting for colt ? I look in the CAPS program to compare DSM 90 and Colt and the picture doesn't seem to be exactly the same. Thanks for your help ! |

back when i had my CAPS working on my computer, it may have been a glitch but appearantly the 3g Eclipse shifter bushings are the same as the CSM shifter bushing. so look up the shifter bushings for the 3G eclipse and click the button on CAPS with the hand tools. itll cross reference the parts and see what other cars use that part |

If there bushing it for a reason. I'm fear if you don't use bushing you will use something in your tranny more fast then normally. Or maby the shifter cable will broke... My guest, not a fact. |

nope, the bushings are there for nvh issues (noise, vibration, and harshness) it makes the cabin quieter, and smoother. without the bushings (right to the floor) makes the shifter feel 100% better, and you can feel the gears engage. |

without the bushings will the shifter assembly sit lower?? I say just replace with some washers or something... |

Moving the shifter up and down won't change anything in regards to linkage stretching/movement. I realized why I broke so many shift forks and could never get into gear just a few months ago. I still had stock rubber shifter base bushings installed! |

If you replace it with washers it might slide around on the washers. You either need the stepped bushing kit or bolt it to the floor.

i just picked up some washers that were close to matching the diameters of the bolts and the holes in the shifter base [ID and OD respectively] - they'll help you get it aligned more easily, but they're not under the shifter base. worked well [especially for ~$.30], but wasn't a really big change in shift feel. |

Just as important as the base bushings are these for the linkages at the trans levers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33736 Normal skate bearings and washers work, basically the same thing. Night and day difference. |

ok got my CAPS to run again: P/N MB580086 MR103559 (i dont know why it gives two numbers for this part) other vehicles that share the floor bushing for the shifter are: CJ2A CJ5A CK2A CK5A C52A C53A(DUH) C62A C63A D52A D53A E56A hope that helps you boys out when looking for polyurethane shifter mount bushings |

Thats funny LilEvo, I did the same thing when i fabricated my short throw shifter. The base i used was from Elantra. The holes all lined up, but the shape wasnt quite right to sit flush with the bushings installed. Enter the "bushing elimination kit". I agree, the shifter feels better bolted directly. The bushings just increase slop while absorbing vibration and noise from the transmission. |
