tune it.

find a nice long empty highway and do a few 3rd gear pulls from about 2300 rpm, until you can manage to get boost to come on sooner...
by leaning out the afc below boost range, i was able to make boost come on 3-400 rpm sooner, the heat is what helps.

might check for boost leaks and exhaust leaks as well.

If your timing is retarded to far then it will effect how well your car responds. Not only in the programming but also the position of the Cam sensor will/might effect the whole situation. Since I do not know exactly how the AEM gets its signal for timing I have to assume that it is still the cam position sensor.
I have messed around with Tech II, Haltch and a few others but not AEM.

Thanks. I appreciate all that. Actually, I use Simple Digital System(SDS) rather than AEM. But I don't think that changes anything. Once we get a printed annalysis (SDS does not use dataloging), I think that closer tunning will make a big difference.

do you have a datalogger and a wideband o2 sensor? or even an egt? those all help with tuning, even with out a dyno....
or you can spend some coin and have it dynotuned by someone who is intimate with the system.
