Post subject:  Rear strut options on awd

So since swapping get my colt to awd the rear has always seemed to be bouncy. Not always over bumps but launching and the 1-2 shift. Although I'm still cutting 1.7 60's I'm losing quite a bit I can feel it. Since I'm going to be making a hundred or so more horse soon i need to get this figured out.

Currently i have koni adjustables with ground control coil overs. This is the same combo i was using when the car was wrong wheel drive. I extended the bottom like most people do using another strut bushing welded to the bottom. The ground controls are almost all the way threaded to the top to give it the ride height I need. Would this have something to do with it? Seeing as how the strut is almost all the way extended? The struts are in good shape as far as retracting them by hand.

Anyways what other options do I have? I want to get some struts on here that don't require me to weld the bushing on the bottom. They really need to be roughly 3 inches longer. Any input will help. Thanks.

run a taller spring 10 inch spring fixed it in my case, however I have my rear strut towers lowered.

you can always just look into getting a strut with a taller body.

I recieved some EVO X rear struts today and will take some pics side by side with DSM struts and colt struts when I get them out of the car. From what Ive read Evox struts are a bit taller as a dsmer on tooners installed them into his Rally car and it raised the rear a bit

I'm still running 15+ year old GR2's and hypercoils at almost 900awhp lol. They seem to work alright though! I just bought a nice set of dsm megan coilovers to throw on for spring. Seems like extending the top of the strut with a spacer plate is the best option. Don't have to hack the car to lower the strut towers and don't have to ruin the strut by welding on it.

As promised. Although I was surprised to find that the EvoX strut was about the same height as the CSM. Installed pics coming soon. Also the EvoX strut had a wider diameter tube width and smaller bushings on the lower mounting point.

DSM Top
Evo X middle
and CSM bottom with welded on bushing.
