Has anyone on here ever Added a bar from the driver side to the passenger side frame rails for strength ? A friend of mine, a old 89 awd 4g63 colt owner said something to me about the frame breaking on high hp colts . Is this true ? And if so where does it break ? Any pics or info would be great thanks .

Elantras came with a brace from the front of the drivers lower control arm up to the driver side frame rail.
I cannot comment on frames breaking because I have never heard of this. I am not in racing circles, but in the many years of being on the site I've never seen anyone breaking their frames.

Yeah it sounds unheard of . But I'm just going off of what I was told . I can see how it looks weak near the control arm . But as for breaking I can't see it doing that . Thanks for your reply .

My old Colt had a cracked frame rail, it was stock, but it looked like it had done a 1000whp launch on giant slicks.

There are pics from rallyguy that show how he beefed up the lower front portion where the frame comes down the control arm. That is a weak point but more so if corroded or hitting large objects.
Suzuki Swifts were known for the lower control arm braces rotting off and the wheel going where ever it wanted afterwards.

Do you know how I can find these pics?

Crunchymilk has that car now, some of the pics might be in his build thread. If not I'm pretty sure Eagle has them saved somewhere.

Where the LCA bolts to the frame rail in 2 spots, was not caused by corrosion or debris, was simply cracked. Heard about it happening to others as well. What did I do about? I sold it, but it looked like it could easily be welded and braced (the PO tried welding but failed). Then slight wheel realignment would most likely be needed.
