Quick update...

I got the rear all mocked up/welded and pulled back apart. Pulled the rear subframe apart to get painted. I bought the stuff to make custom rear upper and lower control arms, and also to make a custom active toe eliminator kit. No way Im paying $225 for some hiems joints and a chunk of steel.

I also couldnt find a set of 5lug wheels that i wanted, so i managed to track down the guy who bought my Gram light 57c off of me 4 years ago. luckily he still had them, and i bought them back. also got a complete set of 4 galant hubs off TheDSMGuy.

Thats it for the car, it hasnt been touched the last week or so because of this.......

A buddy had a 92 AWD talon... He got hard up for money, and make me a deal i couldnt refuse.. Im trying to sell all the stuff im not useing to recoupe some of the money. But it pretty much had everything to finish the colt, besides injectors, and a QM twin disk. here is a quick list of what im keeping..

Buschur stage 3 short block
Buschur Race FMIC kit
built head with HKS 272
JHracing divided t4 mani.
GT4202 with t4 housing
2 tial 44s
brand new oem mitsu calipers all the way around. 2pot up front.
new drilled/slotted rotors

the car was built 4-5 years ago and had a 16 and 450s for break in.. he pulled it apart for the 4202 setup and never finished it. he got married and it got pushed to the back. he says it probably has less then -500 miles.

I'll get picturs in the next couple days..

Alright.. got a few hours in the garage today..

Image
Image

I had already made the one side. so my measurements were already done so i went ahead and welded some shit up

Image

Then i took the control arm and cut the thin lip off, to get to the thicker material

But apparently im an idiot and didnt get a pictuer of it cut off.. Whoops..

Image

slid the already welded up sleeves/hiems in and welded it up

Image
Image

Also drilled a few holes, and plug welded everything for extra strength

so now my subframe/control arms are done, and about ready to go out to get blasted and painted.

Image

Also, With my rear shock towers lowered/leveled. my ksports were almost all the way maxed out, so i didnt have anymore lift and i only had a 1/2'' wheel/fender gap. that leaves me with no room for adjustments. I wasnt a Huge fan of the way it was done on anti-lag/adams AWD car. so I decided to make some "strut spacers" I made them 3" and plan on cutting them down to 1.5/2" if needed. There made out of 1/8" plate and 3/4" .125 wall tubing

Thats about all i have right now.. Once this parts car is gone, I'll have more time to work on my pile. It should be on the ground rolling in a couple weeks!

Holy wow John. I would cut the strut mounts back off and lower them more before running those heavy ass spacers. Eff that noise!

Id rather make them a little heavier. Then light/ thin and have them collapse under a hard launch.

I could make another set I suppose

There's no way to lower it more without rebuilding the wheelwell/strut tower

Looked at your pic of the strut towers again, I can see what you are saying about not being able to go any lower.

I didn't notice from the pics but are they angled to suit the offset mounting point from the dsm sub frame?

So what a minute, you lowered the factory strut towers, and then you had to lower them some more ?

I am confused

I probably won't need those spacers. With 225/50/16 I had 1/2" wheel gap on Jack stands. Under full weight, I'm afraid ill have no more up adjustment and tucking tires. I got my ksports as high as they will.go. Its getting 215/45/16s tho. Ill know in a few weeks once its on the ground.
