Well I have a hyundai elantra that has a km175 auto transmission ( which you can find on CSMs as well) and my p/s axle shit the bed on me. Went to autozone and found out they are the same and all the specs are the same. So knowing me and me having shit tons of DSM parts, I used a 5 speed turbo DSM axle for my p/s. It worked great, fit in nicely, no problems and still on the car. So you should not have troubles with either or axles, measure the specs and make sure the splines are the same and your golden.

thanks for the info..and I came across a board last night and found info in it where the 5 speed PS axle does work.. something about it being 3mm diff than the auto one..and it will work.. so with that being figured out.. I should have everything to swap to auto by end of jan...just need to buy new end clutches..have the center diff welded..and new filter/fluid and im off to the races lol.

this is for anyone who has done the 5 speed to auto swap in there 89 colts.. what trans mount did you use? I spoke with a person who used a dsm one (I think) but he said it only has 2 bolts holding it to the frame.. if a stock colt auto would work that would be great. let me know thanks.
