Post subject:  What front struts do you use?
Just like the title states, I am wondering if you guys use CSM or awd DSM front struts when you do the swap? I know what I want for the back, but I couldn't find a real answer for the front easily.

You're not really changing anything in the front suspension when you do the swap, so you can use whatever you want up front. Both the AWD CSM's that I've experienced used CSM struts in the front still.

I'm using all 1g awd shocks. GR2's in the front and AGX's in the rear.

How did you make the awd rear struts work? I thought they were way too short.

I plan on running Koni Yellows and would prefer to match the front and rear from the same vehicle type so that they have the same valving and whatnot. If DSM ones bolt up that is probably what I'll be going with.

How did you make the awd rear struts work? I thought they were way too short.
I cut the top of the strut tower out and rewelded them in lower so the talon struts bolt in.

Or better yet, use EVO8 struts ;). There are many "how to's" articles on how to do it for 1g/GVR4, it works very similar in a Colt.

I have come to distrust most aftemarket damper options, so this offers an OEM solution.

I considered this as an option, but I see two potential problems. I want a smaller diameter spring to allow for greater clearance for a wider wheel/tire setup, and I also want to go very low. When I say "very" I am talking borderline silly cause I am a fan of slammed cars.

If you want small diameter, you should get coilovers.

But now you are talking about shocks with crazy travel or short body.

I am using the 1g awd kyb agx's, i can get 2 fingers in on the back wheels as for the front it looks like a monster truck. I was thinking about coilovers in the front to drop it down. I do have the 1g awd eibach sportline lowering springs on now.
