I finally got around to dropping a 4g63 into the '92 JDM Mirage hatch that I picked up last year. It has been a lot of work so far dealing with the wiring differences and the fact that the car was originally a carby and uses a saddle tank like a 2g awd dsm being that it has factory awd. I didnt want to ditch the stock tank for a fuel cell just yet so I had it sumped and it now runs an external a-1000 pump with -10an fuel lines. The engine is a '99 7 bolt block with evo IX pistons and rods with arp hardware. There is still a lot to do and change such as intercooler and piping setup, installing my shep stage 2 trans, put together the 2.3l engine that is all apart sitting in boxes, etc. Currently running just stock cams, evo 560cc injectors, a stock 2g dsm intercooler, gtk-500 turbo, ss t-3 exhaust mani, dsmlink V3, open down pipe, stock awd trans and axles , etc. It pulls nice at 15 psi so far. Cant wait to get it setup for big boost!
Here is how it looked when I bought it with the 4g91 1.5l carb engine:

And here are a couple of pics of how it sits now:

I'll post updated pics and info as more progress is made.

Saw this over on the Galant board as well, Awesome car! If you don't mind me asking how is this car registered since they never sent the 4g hatches to the US?

Took me over a year to get papers on it with the help of some friends with connections.

Nice! I know you always get mixed answers when asking about registering a car legally. Glad you were able to get it done.

That's awesome! How much does that car weigh? I'd love to see more pics/videos

Not sure of the weight yet. After I put the top mount turbo setup, air/water intercooler, and cage in the car I will take it to the scales. I still have a long way to go with this project, just thought I'd post up some early pics since it finally has a 4g63 in it. 8)

I'm sure there are plenty of these hatches out there, but try finding one that has the optional factory AWD "cold climate package" in the middle east, or for that matter, anywhere! 8)

Haha, you must be the guy Collins told me about... picked this car up from Washington, right? Drove it cross country?

Damn nice ride, I was under the impression this thing was a 3G.

Not sure who Collins is but yes, I did buy the car in Seattle and drive it back to Savannah GA.
Loving the car and am in the process of changing a few things around already. Looking into getting a coilover suspension setup for it soon as well. If I ever figure out how to upload pics that are sized correctly for this board I will post pics of the progress.

Took about 5 dsays to make the drive but we took the scenic route. Stopped off in Yakima WA to meet Mark who owns one of my favorite GVR4's (1051) and also in TN to meet another VR4 guy. We also stopped by mount rushmore, the arch in St. Louis and a few other places along the way all while getting use to driving a RHD car for the first time. It was quite an experience. I would love to do it again someday if the right car comes along again. 8)
